Re: I think it could be the end? (spine mets?)

You are 1) overwhelmed and 2) stuck in an ever evolving state of catastophizing. Cancer sucks in different ways for different people. May I suggest getting involved in some survivorship programing via your hospital. Hospitals vary in what they offer. Your best opportunity in beating this includes ke...

Re: Worried about spread to my bones? (leg pain) ???

I went to the hospital last night and they did a ultrasound for blood clots but everything seemed fine. I also spoke to the surgeon today. When I did my CT scan i only drank the contrast liquid but didn't take the contrast injection. Protip, pickiness about important diagnostics is not favorable to...

anxious for input from others. avastin just added to my 5FU. had allergic reaction to oxaliplatin and irinotecan. Pete, I have been on Avastin for years. Initially with Capecitabine (5FU in pill). Re: Colon cancer and diabetes

I am sorry that it is another challenge to deal with. I am a diabetic. The A1C level of 12 is dangerous. There isn't the concern with metformin with imaging and contrast as in the past. They used to have you dc the metformin. Now they don't. It changed about 2-3 years ago. I am sure some hospitals f...

Question on Irinotecan, 5FU, and Avastin experience

Hello Everyone, Peace be with you! I am getting put on Irinotecan, 5FU, and Avastin in a couple weeks. Can anyone share their experiences on this? Did it shrink tumors/lesions? Did you tolerate it well? I know everyone is different in their experiences. I am hoping that my functioning does drop off ...

Re: Fasting protocol for Irinotecan?

I haven’t tried it myself, but I understand a fairly typical protocol is a 48 hour water fast prior to the infusion, and no re-feeding until treatment is complete. Unfortunately if you’re doing FOLFIRI this means an additional 48 hours fasting during the 5-FU infusion, to ensure you aren’t refeedin...

Fasting protocol for Irinotecan?

I am seeking details on the fasting protocols for Irinotecan? Did it make a difference? The side-effects make me anxious as I don't want to look too scary for my kids. My bio line is not accurate. I have had about 170 rounds of chemo, radiation, and about 5 surgeries. I did the doublet therapy for B...

CEA surge to 120 with add of opdivo

I am on the doublet therapy for braf v600e. After a year, my cea rose to 30's. I suggested adding opdivo (Monthly) and just got my second infusion along with cea that surged to 120. Imaging is stable. Not sure if a lag and ca is very metabolically active or something else. Anyone else ever have some...

Anyone have VATS to Hilar Lymph node?

I recently had a bronchoscopy that was computer guided. I have a spread to a lymph node 11 L and checking on VATS as an option. CT shows some soft tissue involvement. The hospital I go to, James, said they don't use VATS for mets. I am checking with Cleveland Clinic. Anybody every have this procedur...

Am I screwed?

Hello everyone, I just got scans back and indicated enlargement of the hilum and hilar. I am Braf V600e and am grateful to be out past 7 years. I have a cough and shortness of breath that is bothersome. I am scheduled to meet with a interventional pulmonologist however it is not until next month. I ...

Cynthia, Peace to you. I can understand and appreciate the CEA & SUV anxiety as I also have that to deal with that- Even now as I type. I too talked with God about not leaving my children age 11 & 13 and wife to go through life without me. If I may, what needs to be revealed for your long-te...

CEA Level question

As I step through the anxiety, I have ongoing angst about my above normal CEA. Note that previously my cancer always had cea in the normal range, even when I had blockage of a large tumor. In July of 2020, I had the growth of a lung lesion, CEA increase (Mutation) and had cryoablation. Hence, the CE...
