Re: 2011: IN MEMORIAM

Queah Habern, Miss February in the 2007 Colondar, passed away early Saturday morning. If anyone would like to send messages for Queah's mom, Donna, feel free to post them here or send me a private message and I will give them to her. If you would prefer, I think you can send Donna a message directly...

Re: Anyone know much about Hirschprungs disease?

I have a friend whose 6-month old son went through testing this summer (he didn't have it)... two good places I found for general information are:

Re: Can't get an MRI of my knee because of my port

HUH? I've never heard of this. My mom has a PowerPort (left side) and she has had two MRIs of her right shoulder in the last few months. Her oncologist, nurse, radiology tech and radiologist said it would be no problem, and it wasn't. It sounds to me like none of your docs want to say it's okay simp...

Dear Colon Clubbers, I wanted to give all of you a heads-up that a number of weeks ago, I let the Board know that I will be leaving The Colon Club. Re: Coumadin and Metastases

The port flushing and the coumadin are for different things, so doing one doesn't mean you don't do the other one. The flushing is to keep the port and catheter working and not "clogged up." The coumadin is for the blood in your veins, so that it doesn't decide to stick to the catheter and...

new resources from CCA...

Colon Cancer Alliance (CCA) has an upcoming chat that might be interesting and has also posted one of their "mini-conferences" as a webcast (details for both are below). CCA provides lots of excellent patient support resources, and their seminars provide excellent information about advance...

Re: Coumadin and Metastases

Hi John, I have never seen any link between taking Coumadin and the growth of tumors. It may seem like it but Coumadin and Avastin aren't "opposite" drugs or anything like that - Avastin actually doesn't work on the blood itself, but on the growth of blood vessels -by "strangling"...

Re: First Time Colonoscopy :(

Dear FAP, I am very concerned about your comment. Although it is true that, for most people, the sedation/painkiller mix used here in the U.S. (typically versad + demerol or fentanyl) is not absolutely necessary to do a colonoscopy, it is a vast and scary generalization to say that this is "dan...

Re: Inspirational theme for the board?

I definitely agree that a single person isn't a statistic! Yes, everyone here is part of the statistics of the world we live in (cancer and non-cancer), but statistics are things that have happened to a group of people in the past (however that is defined), not something that is happening to an indi...

Re: Sex and chemo

And I meant to say no, I definitely don't think you've exposed yourself too much. Using a condom is more of a precaution for "what if" rather than a "definitely going to happen" situation.

Re: Sex and chemo

Don't worry, Lattemoon! I would guess that part of this has to be is that it's very, very difficult to deal with the fact that life isn't the way it used to be. You want to find the parts of both of your lives that you can keep "normal" without cancer invading them. It would be pretty darn...

Re: SCHOLARSHIPS for survivors from the SAMFund

If the surgery is considered part of your treatment (ie removing your cancer), then that would still be considered "in treatment." If you are having surgery for something that is cancer-related but not treatment (for instance if you have an incisional hernia or something like that), you wo...
