Re: Need to stop Cymbalta

My method to stop Cymbalta worked, for what that bit of information is worth, and the lung CT scan didn't come up with anything worth consideration. Tomorrow I will find out what to expect in terms of either treating or not treating my recent diagnosis of multiple myeloma. After that I suppose I sho...

Re: Need to stop Cymbalta

Thanks. Having experienced cold turkey more than enough times over the years, I'd be afraid of that. Don't know what will happen, but I stopped Cymbalta yesterday and took half the fluoxetine. Yesterday and last night were hell, but this morning so far has been giving me hope that the worst might be...

Need to stop Cymbalta

My oncologist, whom I like, switched me from Fluoxetine to Cymbalta and the side effects of that drug are not worth the struggle. I've been taking it for 15 days and wonder if any of you have switched back to fluoxetine after a short time. My doctor's away for the weekend. Restless legs, arms, neuro...

Re: Chemo treatment woes....

I am one of those who has been in despair since my chemo with oxaliplatin ended in Nov 2010. I still find that warm liquids are more comfortable to drink than cold, the tinnitus is outrageously loud, my feet drive me nuts all day every day and wake me many times each night, and the pain continues ha...

Re: Scary - shaking may be activity tremors from 5FU cerebellar damage.

My twelve chemo infusions, oxaliplatin, etc, ended in Nov 2010. My hands still shake, not all the time, fortunately, but enough to be annoying and the spastic twitching in my hands makes both writing by hand and using touch screen devices very difficult. Perhaps you can skip the oxaliplatin which, f...

Nervous

My wife, naturopath and PCP have all ganged up on me, insisting that I visit my least favorite hospital department: oncology/hematology. Both doctors have told me my bone marrow is disappearing, to me a funny choice of words, something that seems impossible for a living being. My usually unflappable...

Re: Oxaliplatin and neuropathy

Karen, About a year before my cancer was properly diagnosed, I had an out of body experience due to a bleed, and it was one of the best things I've ever experienced.  Don't know how long it lasted, but I do remember the sensation of total lightness, floating without pain looking down at my body lyin...

Re: Oxaliplatin and neuropathy

Karen, What a fine letter in which you have expressed my feelings far better than I am able. Thank you. In Maine, where I live, a new law is beginning to take effect. That law makes it illegal to have too much pain. Sounds silly only because it is. I am currently taking more narcotics than will be a...

Re: Oxaliplatin and neuropathy

It is encouraging to see that something actually helped someone. You and your husband must be thrilled. I look forward to trying it out and will post my results. Very exciting.

Re: Oxaliplatin and neuropathy

Thanks to all for your various suggestions. I had tried Lyrica unsuccessfully some years ago, and once again last month for a week or so. The drug and I do not get along: awful psychological effects such as extreme paranoia, and my wife says she thinks I could star in a zombie movie if I could only ...

Re: Oxaliplatin and neuropathy

Yes, I understand. My goal in writing was not to appear self-pitying. I'm sorry if that's how it looked. I really wonder if the platinum can lurk. I've wondered if there's a chelation or perhaps another process none of my MDs have suggested. They have all shrugged, given up. Today is one of those da...

Oxaliplatin and neuropathy

Six years after my last of twelve 5fU w/oxaliplatin infusions given over a six month stretch, the neuropathy in my feet, especially, but also my hands and lips is making me very nearly totally insane. I am at my wit's end as every step means pain, sitting still means pain, and I twitch all night wak...
