Re: Stage 4 CA-What family preparations must be done

Dear livebyfaith…I am so sorry about your husband's diagnosis. Everyone should have a will. Upon my mom's diagnosis and at her radiologist's urging, my brother and I along with our mom updated her will and I'm glad we did. Her original will was too broad and didn't cover end of life issues and other...

Re: NEW THREAD FOR LOVED ONES LEFT BEHIND ONGOING

I am finding myself, as well, dwelling on the past weeks of my mom's life. I replay some of the moments over and over again, tonight is another bad night for me. I just wished I would have known that she was near death instead of believing what was told to me by the doctors' staff that she was suffe...

My Mom has departed

My mom departed this world at about 2 a.m. yesterday. She had been admitted into in-patient hospice on August 20 where she received totally awesome care. The hospice staff was incredible to me as well as I spent hours upon hours sitting with my mother each day she was there. She had finally been ref...

Re: Now...plan C?

Chixter…Your daughter as well as you and your family are in my prayers every night. Those prayers extend to the medical team in that they are able to find a treatment plan. Bless you for being such a strong, loving father to your precious Katie.

Re: new here

Hi! I read your posts with much empathy as my mom, 82 at the time, was diagnosed with stage IV CRC this past April. She just had her 83rd birthday this past week, sharing her birthdate with Napoleon which I always laughed about since she has all of her life been a very strong person, losing her lovi...

Re: Could this be the effects of radiation treatment?

I'm not sure who told you that FMLA was 12 weeks in a 24 month period because it is 12 weeks in a 12 month period. From my friend who is using FMLA....your 12 month period of time is renewable each year (paperwork must be done) and starts anew again. From the DOL website: Overview The FMLA entitles...

Re: Could this be the effects of radiation treatment?

:?: Elvie, I am sorry you are finding yourself in this position, but all of the advice you have received here is good. I am in agreement with the sentiments above. I am going to address one of your other comments: "and my job is contingent upon his employment" as a justification for your j...

Re: Could this be the effects of radiation treatment?

I truly am glad that you had the time to spend with the hospice nurse and that many of your questions/concerned were answered. IMO, while radiation can obviously cause some amount of fatigue, I seriously doubt that the typical chemorad treatments would cause this type of fatigue....particularly alm...

Re: Could this be the effects of radiation treatment?

42 - Fight it. 52 - In with a chance. 62 - Not over yet. 72 - meh... 82 - ??? Um. I don't know exactly what to say here but I tend to agree with the above quote. Obviously your love for your Mom is great. That is a good thing. It is normal for a parent to predecease a child, it is a fact of life al...

Re: Could this be the effects of radiation treatment?

I'm sorry for what you're going through, but have to agree with pog 82 is a good run. I'm hoping for 52 at this point. Hi Kenny, Thank you for your sympathy. It has been harrowing, but I am trying to keep in all in perspective. I am hoping for 82 at least for you! Since joining this support forum, ...
