Re: Life insurance, anyone?

We've been researching the life insurance thing for about 2 weeks now. I had to submit my husband's path report and we were told all companies declined to insure at this time. Mutual of Omaha offered a $25,000 whole life policy for $119/month but I believe there are some restrictions. DH was 3b and ...

Re: Haven't posted since last June, current situation mostly good, some bad.

The only thing DH can do to keep his bowels as close to normal as possible after the reversal is fiber. He takes 18 fiber tablets a day- 6 with each meal. This is the only way he bulks his bowels up enough not to have an issue.

Re: "Mild dependent atelectasis" (partially collapsed lung) -- anyone else had this as a finding on a CT?

DH had the same findings on his CT in September. No mention of it from his onc. I flipped out a little but when I contacted the dr. she said it's nothing to be worried about.

O/T I guess...Small Intestine Mesenteric Carcinoid Tumor

We just got through Blaise's latest CT scan and got the results yesterday. Everything is clear and we were breathing a little easier. Then I received a call from my brother- he has been diagnosed with a Small Intestine Mesenteric Carcinoid Tumor. He had terrible abdominal pains and had a CT Scan and...

Re: Scanxiety creeping in

Blaise will be having a CT scan this Thursday (24th) along with labs and a visit with the oncologist. CT in march was clear so that's what we're hoping for again.

Re: Had my 1st colonoscopy today - found a 5 cm mass & I'm terrified

I remember the anxiety like it was yesterday but it was March 2014. The doctor doing my husband's scope knew it was cancer right away so no waiting for the biopsy. I let my mind take a run ahead and it made for some very rough days. Finally I asked about seeing a counselor at our cancer center and i...

Re: Unemployed and Diagnosed

I unhooked Blaise at home. Infusions were Thursdays and Saturday morning I would unhook him. It took 10 minutes max. If you have someone that would be willing to unhook you at home I would go that route. I did a little training class at the infusion center and each week they sent us home with suppli...

Re: Caregiver overload

It's not easy- but just keep breathing! Letting your mind work way far ahead is normal I think. I have to tell myself to rein it in a bit just so I don't go dashing off into the scary thoughts. Deep breaths and "one day at a time" have helped me. I'm sorry for everything you're going throu...

Haha...I once heard someone say they potty trained their little boy by throwing Cheerios into the toilet and telling him to "shoot" them!

Re: Why I stopped posting

I can only say that I am grateful everyday that my DH is in an "ok" place- at the moment. I know he has a long way to go with lots of scans, anxiety from those scans and fear of the unknown. I also know he could, at any moment, become someone that may not have many options left if he has a...

Re: Why I stopped posting

Sometimes people make bonds for life on boards like this. I wouldn't want to see that taken away from people that are NED and are still concerned with those folks that helped them through a dark time and still come here to post. Just my opinion.

Re: Why I stopped posting

I'm not understanding why someone got flamed for this point of view but that's just the nature of dealing with other human beings. I can definitely understand a "heightened sense of awareness" while going through treatment- you have a goal you are working very hard toward. That energy-mome...
