Re: Will they operate in more than one spot affected. Im so sad

Firstly, you really need an opinion at a top cancer hospital if possible. Where do you live? Second, there are people who have had “inoperable” liver mets at diagnosis that are cancer free years later. Not easy and need some luck, but possible. Try not to get too far ahead of yourself. Get the diagn...

Re: Mass in cecum / liver mets

DeMatteo is one of the best period. Glad he is involved. Whoever the oncologist, maybe you could see Kemeny at MSKCC so she manages hai chemo, and have Penn onc manage systemic chemo.

Re: I did it!

SG, Very glad to hear that you are currently cancer free. Here’s to staying there! Second, you did not cure cancer naturally. You were stage II and rightly had surgery to remove your primary tumor. You had your colon cancer surgically removed, not cured naturally. As the American Cancer Association ...

Re: HAI pump treatment in the US besides MSKCC?

You want someone to implant it with experience. MSKCC, Fong at City of Hope, and Mayo at OHSU seem to be current options.

Will be thinking of you, your wife, and her family and friends in the coming days. Clearly you both have been fighting for many years, and deserve peace in the days ahead.

NIH / Trump Budget Proposal

Politics aside (I don't post about politics and don't want to here - this is not about the budget overall), I believe the current budget proposal re: NIH and overall science funding should be unacceptable to all, but especially all of us. Slashing NIH funding could have devastating effects to cancer...

Re: Four months in , scared, confused and overwhelmed about how to proceed

Hi Sarah. I agree w Julia re: HAI. I would contact Kemenys office, and see what they say. They may want to see the next CT scan to see burden outside (and in) liver. Otherwise, Maia has provided some good links. This is a good time to be looking while he's doing chemo, especially if you're seeing re...

You may deduct $50/night per person (max 2 people). Not much... but something.

Tom did a great job explaining his own experience and offering insights into others'. Wonderful to have such an advocate, one with the science and personal story. Well done Tom!

Re: Advice/Insight Please - Wife Just Diagnosed

Re: Kemeny that is not accurate. She will see you during chemo to evaluate and potentially schedule surgery, but prefers to do the pump earlier than later always; she has data that suggests better outcomes the earlier one does the pump. So her ideal time to implant pump and resect primary is before ...

Re: Advice/Insight Please - Wife Just Diagnosed

Echoing others (go to Sloan & Kemeny given liver only disease) but understand your instinct to start folfox and stay local. Two things to consider. The sooner you start hai pump, the better success generally. Second, pretty much all other institutions don't have the surgeons and Kemeny that MSKC...
