Re: Just Got Laid Off

No, Angela it just isn't fair. I'm so sorry. I really wonder about the legality of laying someone off while they're on disability. I'd look into that. Try to stay strong. Big hugs!

Re: BradyR

I still find myself thinking about Brady often. He had a real impact on me because he was such a kind soul. Sharon, I hope your celebration was full of happy memories. All my best to you,

Re: Pregnant at 42 one year after chemo!

Thanks so much everyone! My baby is due February 6 and it's my first. My hubby and I were talking about trying around the time I got diagnosed 2 years ago. Because of my age, I get to go to the "high risk" area of the hospital which is great because you get a lot of special attention. So f...

Re: Is it really possible I was given the wrong treatment?

Wow. I would do everything humanly possible to get my hands on those medical records. I'd harass them in every way I could think of and if necessary get a lawyer. It really does sound like a mistake was made in your treatment and no one looked carefully enough at your records to find the inconsisten...

Re: Done with Treatment but still tired!

Belle - I do think you'll get more of your energy back, but you'll have to give it some time. Your body is recovering from a whole lot and I think you just need to hang in there during this process. I finished chemo a little over a year ago, but I haven't been through as much as you. I'm back to wor...

Pregnant at 42 one year after chemo!

Hey everyone. I just wanted to share my news - I'm 19 weeks pregnant less than one year after finishing my chemo and everything is going extremely well. All the tests and ultra sounds say the baby is in great shape with very low risk for down's, genetic defects, neural tube defects, etc. I have cont...

Re: COLON CLUB MSG BD DEDICATION TO BRADYR

This is a fitting tribute for a very deserving man. I come back here and lurk and read more these days than I contribute, but I can honestly say that I really miss his presence here. It's nice to know that his advice, influence and spirit will live on here. He's in our hearts.

Re: Bradyr 1958 - 2009

That man had a HUGE heart. I really feel as if he is watching over all of us now and looking out for us as only Brady could. I got emotional in reading that he married you 3 times and that it was his first request upon reflecting on the things he most wanted to do. That is a beautiful write-up. Than...

I'm so glad to hear you're doing well and you managed through your surgery. What an ordeal you've been through. You're one tough cookie. I can't believe how soon you're going back to work!!! Take it easy and don't overdo it!

Sharon - he sure is a fighter. I'm so glad you are still getting to share those lucid moments together. This must be so hard on you, but never forget how much you've been there for him and all you have given him through all of this. His fighting spirit and your loving support are what have allowed h...

Re: What do you do differently now that you know.staying happy?

I agree with getting out and staying busy when your Mom is up to it. Time doing the things you always enjoyed as well as time with the people you really care about is so important. It helps to guard against depression, but as someone said earlier, down time is also very important. When my Mom was in...

Re: My First Date

I hope you will just relax and enjoy your date. Talk, hang out, laugh, get to know each other a bit. I agree that there is absolutely no reason why you should mention either the cancer or the ostomy on a first date. From my experience, people who dive into "too-heavy" stuff right away can ...

Re: Anyone changed Oncologist in the middle?

I didn't change onc's but was tempted to. Mine was very cold and unfeeling. She was not a good listener and just seemed to want to do the basics and get out of there each time we met. I'd heard complaints about her from others too and really wanted an onc. who was a little warmer with a bit of a hum...
