No it was under the muscle of my lower abdominal wall. I think most of my peritoneum was removed in 2010

12 years Stage IV

Happy New Year Warriors,

Just wanted to let everyone know I'm still living a great life and I'm wrapping up year #12. Had a day surgery to remove a mass from by abdomen a few weeks ago. Back to NED while I take a break from chemo. Hope everyone has a great new year.

Does your cancer have any mutations? I have NRAS Mutation.

Re: Celebrating 10 years since my Stage IV DX!!!!!

I did the Folfox/Avastin only when I was first diagnosed---I think about six months, then went to Xeloda right after. Agree that Xeloda much easier, and I believe it is exactly the same as 5FU. I always ask my onc what he would do if he were me. I'd did ask to drop the xeloda after over a year of NE...

Re: Celebrating 10 years since my Stage IV DX!!!!!

Hi there. Since my last recurrence in March 2016, my Onc has suggested I need to stay on something because "it will definitely come back". Xeloda seems to kick Cancer ass every time I take it. When it comes back, I'll probably add that back in first to see if it still works. I dropped to A...

Re: Celebrating 10 years since my Stage IV DX!!!!!

Hi Lovelife,

thank you for your note. I had mets in my liver and lymph nodes in my abdomen.

When first Diagnosed 13 of 16 lymph nodes came back positive for cancer.

Best,
Sue

Thinking this might be the start of another recurrence

Hi all,

On Xmas eve, got my latest scan results. It was a good result, considering my history. the only new finding was:

"Mild wall thickening at anastomosis"

I'm thinking the only thing that would cause this is the start of a new met. Anyone have any insights?

Thanks,
Sue

Re: Anyone Managing Stage IV with Avastin Only?

Thank you all for your posts. I appreciated the different sides presented to my question. I am out here on the tail of that curve and looking for others. Would love to join Betsydoglover--drop the Avastin and have 14 more years. I think in my case it will be unlikely....but can't imagine doing avast...

Re: Anyone Managing Stage IV with Avastin Only?

One of the problems that individual mCRC survivors have is the difficulty of their oncologists to lift the hood, so to speak, to work an individual's problems, and then reconcile these treatment actions with rather crude statistical recommendations often meted out today. A lot of veterans here know...

Re: Anyone Managing Stage IV with Avastin Only?

Hi Mattie, My husband is on Xeloda plus Avanstin maintenance for about two years. We are also so scared for the recurrence if quit or drop one of them. Can you share why you dropped Xeloda? And how often you get Avanstin infusion currently? My husband gets Avanstin every 3 weeks now but his oncolog...

Re: Anyone Managing Stage IV with Avastin Only?

Thanks Betsy,

Onc tells me it will come back if I quit. Just starting to get wierd side-effects, like choking. Worried about long term use. Agree it is impossible to tell if it is working, but the longest I've gone without a recurrance is about 3 years.

Thanks for your response.
