Re: Finally got my hernia repair date!

Good Luck to you! I'm a little over 5 months since my reversal / hernia repair surgery and now able to lift heavier than before my dx. Take it really easy at first. I started back using almost no weight at all...
Good Luck :D

Clinical trial now open to rectal cancer survivors

Hi- I thought my fellow rectal cancer NED peeps might be interested in this trial. My oncologist is the primary investigator in this study and informed me yesterday that the study, S0820, Adenoma and Second Primary Prevention Trial (PACES) is now being opened up to include rectal cancer survivors. T...

Re: Newbie with tons of questions

Welcome to the club no one wants to join but we are glad yo found us. I would definitely get a second opinion. The first surgeon I went to said that there was a 90-95% chance that I would have a permanent ostomy. My tumor was so low he didn't think he could save my sphincter. thank goodness I got a ...

Re: Introduction

Hi There- Welcome to the club that no one wants to join, but glad you found us. I am about a year farther along I my journey, but do have some similarities that I wanted to share with you. When I met with the first surgeon I spoke to he said there was a 90%+ that I would end up with a permanent osto...

Re: Takedown and leak test.

Hey Kenny- I had my reversal almost 2 months ago. The only test I had done was a sigmoid scope right before surgery when I was thankfully already fast asleep :D Another thing you might want to put on your hospital list is soft TP the stuff at the hospital was horrible! Unfortunately I was in the hos...

Re: When to tell my son about my diagnosis

Hi- I'll add my experience with telling my boys (12 & 14) last year about my cancer. They already knew that I had been having problems and had been in for tests. When I said that I found out what was wrong with me my older son guessed that it was cancer. After assuring them that it was caught ea...

Re: Incisional Hernia Repair Experiences?

Hi- I'll add my 2 cents since my hernia repair was only 6 weeks ago along with my reversal surgery. My hernia was right above my stoma and considered a ventral hernia & I had laparoscopy surgery. Not to in anyway comparing myself to a 220 lb weightlifter  but I consider myself quite active ...

Re: Reversal Log: Experience,Problems, Q & A's

Well since this was bumped up I thought I'd write an update on my progress, Tomorrow it will be 6 weeks since my surgery. Once my bowels finally woke up and started working I was finally released from the hospital 10 days after surgery. I started having "normal" BMs about 11-12 days after ...

Such heartbreaking news, even with us knowing it was coming... it just feels like a physical blow when I read this post. So loved and always so up lifting..... I'm glad you are now pain free and soaring with the angels. God bless your family, sweet Gwen.

Re: CT Scan After Port Placement

Hi- I had my CT scan before my port was placed so I cannot answer directly on that from my experience. However I don't see that it is an issue and they will probably access the port for the CT. Maybe someone else with more knowledge can chime in with their thoughts. Good luck to your mom. She is ver...
