Re: After Erbitux, what's next?

Adding Irinotecan back in. Says it should kick Erbitux back to effective? MSS Stable so he said not a candidate for immunotherapy. Mixed feelings right now. He also said Avastin is nasty stuff, and doesn't want to go there yet.

After Erbitux, what's next?

Just got CT results, lung mets are increasing In size. Been on Erbitux for roughly 2 years as single agent. Am I wrong in assuming this means the end of its effectiveness? What drug is normally given next? Trying not to freak out right now. TIA

Re: Lung met cryoablation tomorrow

Just curious if you are in the US? I ask because I too have a 4-5 lung mets and have never been offered any treatment other than standard chemo and now Erbitux. Is ablation not as well received in the US? Should I ask my Onc why it hasn't been mentioned?

Re: Time to decide whether to do chemo or just observe

Same here. One spot on one lung. All others shrank with Erbitux. Been on 3 month break, scan at end of July. Can't wait to hear recommendations if everything is still stable!

Re: Do you imagine being told you are cured?

I ask myself this all the time. I was not expected to still be here now, and because things are so clear, I actually wonder if I may get old after all! Stage IV with lung mets, but under control with Erbitux. Just one tiny spot. Chemo break right now. Is it possible to beat this???

Re: Five years....and lung nodule

If I can add my .02 I am currently fighting Stage IV with lung mets. All have responded to Erbitux except one. Bottom right lung. It's only 4mm. Currently on 2 month chemo break. Sometimes I wonder about the docs grave prognosis. Chemo for life. 2-3 yrs. It's like I'm waiting for the worst with ever...

Re: Just a lifer whining about being a lifer

Thank you for this post. Although my signature isn't up to date, I am a lifer, on what they call "palliative " care. I have been on Erbitux ONLY for about 6 months and it is still keeping my lungs Mets under control. Some seem to have died. Is that possible?? Anyway, I am glad my Onc agree...

How long is Erbitux effective?

My last CT Scan showed the lung nodules are still there - they didn't disappear like they did in the scan 4 months ago. (I assume this is normal progression for my situation) My ONC indicated that Erbitux is only effective for 12-18 months and then it stops working. Has anyone else heard that, or wh...

Re: Dropping iri, keeping FU and avastin

RIght there with you! Recent CT Scan showed the 5FU did nothing to stop the lung mets from growing. So, it's back to the Erbitux. I too, am trying to keep my side effects down so I don't feel like quitting all the time. I'll ask about stopping the IRI, as that definitely causes the most trouble. Wou...

Re: ERUS prep?

I had the ERUS, just did an enema right before the exam. It's an ultrasound up your butt to examine and measure the tumor. It was quite uncomfortable as they moved the probe around various angles, but it didn't last too long. Hope this helps!

CT Results.. IT"S BAAAAAAAAAAACK

Had CT on Monday, results show the previously dormant lung mets have reared their ugly heads again. Same mets, same spots. Erbitux put me at NED last fall, but ONC let me do 5FU as maintenance since then. Apparently that didn't do sh*t. Appointment with ONC on Tuesday to see if I go back on Erbitux,...

Re: Thread for February scans

Scan on Monday 2/29; last one in Dec was NED, but we are watching the lung mets very carefully. I know one thing, I am sick and tired of 5FU - yesterday I had to have hydration on my disconnect day and I was just about a wreck. Couldn't stop crying, feeling lousy, fingertips are red, swollen and pai...

Re: Erbitux not working, Avastin Next??????

That is my understanding. Treatment, scan, treatment, scan, change treatment when necessary, scan again. I am done with my first round of Erbitux and am on maintainence 5FU until more spots appear. Then more treatment. Sucks, doesn't it? Even so, best wishes to you and your wife. Keep us updated ple...
