Hey everybody just wanted to remind you of The Colon Club's Kimberly Fund. If you have a child under age 18 apply for The Kimberly Fund grant. Re: Family History

Did your dad have colorectal cancer? How old was he when he did? Do you have siblings? You are definitely at an increased risk so waiting until 50 is out of the question. My opinion, as long as you have NO symptoms and you are poop watching you should be okay until 40 but don'y put off ANY symptoms....

Re: Maintenance Chemo questions

Yes, the brother with cancer is in the Steeler jersey in this picture. And yes he had a recurrence. The other two have been screened and are both clear. He finished 6 months of Folfox, had one scan that was "iffy" second one 3 months later confirmed cancer was back on small intestine. He h...

Maintenance Chemo questions

My brother is 46, Stage IV and he works for a company snaking sewers. He is almost finished with 6 months of Fulfiri Doctors say they want him to be on maintenance chemo indefinitely. I'm not sure the name of the drug. If you're on maintenance chemo, what are you on? How long have you been on it? Ho...

Re: HIPEC recovery and extreme exhaustion

I had 2 HIPECs. They are tough. After the first one my new ileostomy leaked into the wound (they left open) I was septic. I couldn't walk anywhere even if I wanted. I was in the hospital for 4 month. When I came home I couldn't do anything for myself for a couple of months. I'm sorry you're feeling ...

Re: HIPEC

I had my first HIPEC in 2005. I was in pretty bad shape...literally almost dead. I had tumors wrapped around my small intestines creating complete blockages. (whole colon was already removed) I had LOTS of chemo before, for months. Surgery was 9-10 hours. I was in ICU for 4 days. I was in the hospit...

Re: new member with ostomy question

I'm allergic to adhesives. Tapes make my skin blister. I use Coloplast Assura wafers and no sting skin wipes. Sometimes my skin still gets irritated but this is what works best for me.

Re: How many less than 50 at dx have Lynch syndrome?

I was dxd with stage iv cc at 30. I had a strong family history of cc and had ulcerative colitis since I was a teenager, so my surgeon and I thought a total colectomy was the best choice for me. After my cc dxd my aunt, uncle (both dxd with cc in their 30s also) and I were all genetically tested and...

Re: Looking for a HIPEC surgeon

I had 2 HIPEC surgeries in Pittsburgh, PA by Dr. Herb Zeh. He is a partner of Dr. David Bartlett that Vilca11 mentioned. I love him. He saved my life. He took my case when other HIPEC surgeons wouldn't.
