Re: Stage 3b with ovarian met recurrence and healthy now

Hi there! I had a solitary met to my left ovary in 2013 which was removed. The oncologists were unsure of correct tx due to unusual presentation, so I did 3 cycles of FOLFOX. I recurred after 2.5 years in peritoneum and solitary lymph node. I had HIPEC in Dec 2015, 11 rounds of FOLFOX and have been ...

Re: Doctors in Kansas City?

I see Dr. Kasi at KU Med. All of my treatments and surgeries have been handled by KU. I have received many second opinions (Dana Farber, MD Anderson, etc) and KU was the only team to offer HIPEC and lymph node resection for my recurrence. I had HIPEC almost two years ago and I am doing great, curren...

Re: How bad would it be to quit oxaliplatin?

Maryb- I totally understand the "death-like" feeling you describe from oxaliplatin (*shudder*)...I had absolutely every symptom you described after my first round. The calf cramping was unbearable for me. My oncologist dropped my dosage to 80 percent of the full dose and i was able to comp...

Thymidylate Synthase (TS) Positive and 5FU

I would appreciate input on being TS positive (100% positive) and continuing 5fu therapy. From what I understand, being TS positive is associated with 5FU resistance. I received my biomarker test results today and of course, I am positive. My report states, "TS is a critical target for 5-FU. In...

Re: Correlation - Grade vs CEA?

Weisssoccermom- totally late to the party...but my first pathology report said "well to moderately- well differentiated adenocarcinoma." My second and fourth opinions just said "moderately differentiated" while my third path report stated "well differentiated." Goes to ...

Oh, Tortuous CA 19-9!!!

argh! Tumor markers are beyond frustrating! How can a mere number wield such devastation on my life?! This board has been a life-saver for me...what a haven of SMART, thoughtful souls. I cannot tell you how much you all have helped this lurker over the past year. In a nutshell: 4/2013 a 14cm left ov...

Re: Tinnitus and Neuropathy what a lovely cocktail!

I have this side effect from Oxaliplatin. My DR at MD Anderson insisted the tinnitus was NOT from the oxaliplatin, and assured me I likely already had it, (even though I was only 37!) However, I've read it can be a side effect...I'm not sure what else could have possibly caused it to suddenly arise ...

Re: Stage IV CC with a CLEAN COLON.

I am in the exact same boat as you...metastatic adenocarcinoma, unknown primary. I was only 37 years old at diagnosis, and it has been a shock to say the least...no family cancer history, very benign health history, active, healthy mother of 4! I read your blog and your experience is so similar to m...
