Urgency Stories, not funny at the time

I'm two years post LAR surgery for Stage IIIa sigmoid tumor and having a little flare-up of tenesmus and started reflecting on how my colon and rectum have behaved since they were so rudely resected! I've had some urgency issues which were not funny at the time, but if anyone would get this type of ...

Re: strange urgency

OP here. I went to the oncologist about this who sent me to my gastroenterologist. Had another colonoscopy which was clear. This still happens from time to time. My onc says this straining sensation is called "tenesmus"? Is that a familiar term to anyone? It's yucky when it happens (I'm in...

strange urgency

I'm throwing this out there in case anyone has experienced this. I had a low anterior resection about 18 months ago. Sine then, I will sometimes be stricken with a great urgency to go. I go, tons comes out (not diarrhea), I get up to go about my life but whoa, the urgency hits again and I have to ra...

Re: How do you pull yourself out of the dark?

I am afraid I cannot add much because I came upon this thread when I was about to start my own about post cancer depression. A year after a low anterior resection I am considered to be in remission. I should be on top of the world. However, I am in the depths of despair. I had a horrible experience ...

Re: Post Chemo Colonoscopy, Two Polyps

Meatie:

No, one polyp is in the ascending colon and one in the transverse colon. The anastomosis is in the rectum.

Post Chemo Colonoscopy, Two Polyps

Had a LAR in January to remove a tumor in my sigmoid colon and six months of adjuvant Xeloda because of a single lymph node testing positive. I had my post-chemo CT scan last month which revealed no abnormalities. My oncologist said I had No Evidence of Disease. This morning I had my post-chemo colo...

Re: Need Tips for Best Bowel Prep Ever

Thanks, all, for the suggestions. The bowel prep was apparently okay, my doc didn't mention anything as to how good/bad it was, and the colonoscopy was done this morning and now is but a memory!

One year until the next one.

Need Tips for Best Bowel Prep Ever

Thursday I am having a post chemo colonoscopy. It will be my third colonoscopy and fourth bowel prep (had to do one before surgery too). Both times I've had a colonoscopy, the doctor has griped about it being a "not very good prep". I would have to agree because the few times I have manage...

Re: Mean Boss

I would like to update the board on my mean boss situation. I went on medical leave back in June, finished up my Xeloda at the end of August and have been released to return to work, which I will do next week. I don't believe anything is going to change regarding my boss's treatment of me once I ret...

Timing of Follow-up Colonoscopy

I finished my six months of Xeloda a couple of weeks ago. My oncologist ordered a follow-up CT scan and colonoscopy for me. I was surprised that I was scheduled only for an appointment with the gastroenterologist, not a colonoscopy. When I inquired as to why, I was told that the gastro (who found my...

Thanks, SkiFletch.

Why doesn't the small intestine tolerate radiation? What happens?

So they determine dosage by body weight?

Because I'm a hefty 180 pounds right now.

Re: What is your story of diagnosis?

When I turned 50, I dutifully went for my screening colonoscopy. It was fine. "see you in ten years!" About four months later, I started noticing blood when I wiped myself after a bowel movement. Not every time, just sometimes. About 8 months after the colonoscopy, I had my regular physica...
