Stella (vilca11) went home (more than a month ago)

Dear all, I decided to post this, because I haven’t seen a message here about vilca11, and I don’t know if anyone is aware of her passing. It’s been more than a month already. We were “virtual” friends and exchanged e-mails, less frequently recently. Her husband Marek replied to my last e-mail. Vilc...

Hello, Annavelik! Where exactly in Russia is she? She should try and get a second opinion at least.

Re: New and freaked out for my mom (double cancer)

Hi, Roberto. Your mom's story is similar to my mom's - colon cancer in 2013 and breast cancer in 2015. I understand your feelings. Hopefully, your mom's cancer is cautght early. If she is 69, she might have hormonal therapy only (if her cancer is hormone positive). I hope she goes through treatment ...

Re: New here! Stage 2 treatment advice

Hi, I've noticed that the tumor was MSI - from what I know, 5-FU or Xeloda (and 5-FU is a part of Folfox regimen) is useless for MSI tumors. Good thing is that msi-tumors are considered as having better prognosis. Please confirm with your oncologist or get a second opinion, because your mother might...

Re: Just Diagnosed

Hello, Rikimaroo! Hope your treatment is going well. I accidentally came across your post and wanted to tell you that your surgeon Steven Wexner is one of the best colorectal surgeons in the world. I am in Russia, and I heard a lot about him in local medical community. You are lucky to have access t...

Pinch me, please...new primary

Dear all, I am mostly a lurker here since 2013, when mom was diagnosed with colon cancer stage 2. It was a very difficult time for us, as she was diagnosed being highly symptomatic, had lost about 15 kg and had daily fever, low iron level, etc. Surgery was diffucult, too. Now 2 years after she devel...

Re: Keytruda FDA Breakthrough Therapy Designation for MSI-High CRC

You posted about it in May - wow! By the way, I made a search here about keytruda, and one member, MikeW mentioned that he worked for Merck.
It is amazing to observe how promising drugs are being developed. And thank you, as usual, for providing us with this info!

Re: New on board

Welcome, Fritz!

Please ask your onc again about MSI, there is research showing that chemo using 5FU (folfox) might not be effective for MSI-tumours. Plus I read in many sources that MSI tumours have a better prognosis overall.

Good luck!

Appendix cancer and pseudomyxoma peritonei

Dear all, I am looking for any info about a very rare disease - Pseudomyxoma peritonei caused by appendix cancer. My friend, who is only 34, the brightest and most beautiful girl I know, was diagnosed with this disease 3 years ago. She had surgery and HIPEC, but now her tumour is not behaving again ...

Please help to understand MSI status

Dear all, my most valuable source of information! (I was able to impress a top doc with my knowledge about CC - and the credit goes to everyone here!) I have the results of MSI testing in front of me (it is a difficult test to find here in Russia, so I was able to do it for my mom's tumour only 1.5 ...
