Re: Xeloda and abdominal pain

I’m still in hospital being treated with IV antibiotics... If you re still in the hospital after New Year's Day you might ask the doctor a few questions: For example, which IV antibiotic is being used, how long is the standard course of treatment for this antibiotic, and what are the plans if this ...

Re: Xeloda and abdominal pain

I'm sorry to hear that you are still in the hospital. You have really been through the wringer these past few years with all of your abdominal surgeries. Could the current problem be due to adhesions from all your past abdominal surgeries? Maybe the CT scan will shed some light on the source of the...

Re: Xeloda and abdominal pain

I’m still in hospital being treated with IV antibiotics. Seems I had a pretty bad colitis, with some fluid accumulation/abscess in the bowels. It’s been getting better slowly. So annoyed. Don’t know what this means for my remaining 6 cycles. I will be scanned tomorrow to see the response of the absc...

Re: Xeloda and abdominal pain

Update for you all: had a night with loads of abdo pain so I decided to go to ER today. Turns out my bowels are completely twisted and full of air. I am stopping Xeloda for now and being admitted as I am at risk of bowel perforation. The onc on call said that probably the chemo burnt/ irritated the ...

Maybe a good pre and probiotic would help also?
Just some thoughts.

No I’m not watching my folic acid intake... didn’t know it was a thing!

Xeloda and abdominal pain

Hi all, I am on my second cycle of XELOX. On Day 10 (out of 14) of xeloda. Since 3 days ago, I am feeling lower abdominal pain especially after eating for a few hours. The pain is always there but aggravated by eating. It feels like my bowels are super inflamed. I am passing gas and stool normally, ...

The stigma of cancer

Hi all, This has been a topic that has been on my mind since I was first diagnosed 7 years ago but keeps reappearing after every recurrence. Do you feel stigma related to your diagnosis of cancer? Do you feel like sharing your diagnosis, treatments to people outside of the cancerverse is approached ...

Re: Stage 3, likelihood of recurrence after resection & chemotherapy

One of the many things I learned from this 7+ year journey for me, is that while the doctors know a lot about cancer, there is a lot they don't know. Statistics are helpful in determining the plan of action, but a person is an individual, not a statistic. Personally what has helped me has been to ma...

Re: Anyone with a local recurrence?

So I have a pretty long and complicated history with colon cancer (will update my signature shortly), but basically 7 years after my primary diagnosis, colitis was seen in a follow-up CT scan. I did not have any symptoms or discomfort. I went for PET scan, which showed nothing. I was due for my rout...

Re: Stage 3b with ovarian met recurrence and healthy now

I had mets to my left ovary and duodenum/pancreas 4 years after my initial diagnosis of colon cancer. Both have been resected. My surgeon believes these are 2 new separate cancers whereas my onco believes they are both mets. Very confusing and an atypical presentation as they say. All my tissues are...

Re: Looking for Stage II Updates for Colon Cancer Peeps

I was diagnosed with a stage 2b or 2c colon cancer in August 2013, with poor prognostic factors (poorly differentiated, lots of invasion, T4 tumor). I opted for taking the chemo. 12 rounds of FOLFOX. Then I lived my life to the fullest - eloped, bought a condo, gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. A...

Re: Is it an ovarian cyst or a potential ovarian met?

Please get a second opinion. MRIs and CTs are not as accurate as vaginal ultrasounds to image the ovaries. I had a CT scan last year that showed cysts in both ovaries. It was followed up with an ultrasound that showed just one large cyst on my left ovary but they thought it looked like hyperstimulat...

Portacath was inserted in interventional radiology under local sedation as an outpatient. Received chemo right after and went home that same day.

Re: Filgrastim and skin-ache...

I had "skin pain" while I was on neupogen pretty much all over my body. It was especially felt when I was pressing on my skin, as if I was bruised everywhere (minus the bruises). Once I stopped taking neupogen, the skin pin stopped! Could have been muscular now that I think about it,..
