Re: 27 - sessile serrated polyp

I need to set a rule for myself to walk away too. I have no family history and just the one small Sessile Serrated Polyp, but I continue to obsess as well. I am not due for another colonoscopy until October 2016, but I will be curious to hear how it goes for others on more frequent scopes. And perha...

Re: Colon Polyps in early 30's

I had one sessile serrated polyp removed this last October (age 33). It was small (3mm) and was removed completely, but now I am to be monitored with colonoscopies every 3 years. No family history here of cancer or even polyps. Scary, but at least now I know to be monitored more closely than someone...

Re: and now I wait....

Hi Erika--- I understand your concern....I had a sessile serrated polyp found this past fall at the age of 33. It was smaller (2-3mm) but was also in the right-side colon and was removed completely during the colonoscopy. It was not malignant, but since it is a pre-cancerous type of polyp, I will be...

Re: 27 - sessile serrated polyp

I agree Twister, I have the same thoughts - I HATE that this is the type of polyp that I had at 33, and the research out there on them is a little daunting. But the other side of me (my glass half full side) feels like you do that just a few years ago, they were left in and completely ignored. And n...

Re: Did mucus go away after polyp removal?

I know what you mean about being in shock about the whole thing. I have no family history of colon cancer or even polyps (that I am aware of) so the whole thing has thrown me for a loop. Plus, I have an unfortunate attraction to Dr Google, so that doesn't help the anxiety at all! For me, our whole f...

Re: Did mucus go away after polyp removal?

Hi Eden! I am a 33 year old female that had a 3mm Sessile Serrated Polyp removed during a colonoscopy last October. I know these type are typically harder to locate and thus cause some concern to docs about missing them during a scope. I was told to come back in 3 years for another colonoscopy, but ...

Re: 22 years old, 5 adenomas

Although I am a bit older than you (33) I had a sessile serrated polyp found this October as well during a colonoscopy for diagnosing GI issues that were not going away. Still on the "youngish" side for what docs consider "normal" for these issues. Mine was small, 3mm, and there ...

Re: 27 - sessile serrated polyp

Thanks for the reply BobBones....that is quite terrifying. 5cm in 6 months...yikes! No, I have not had genetic testing for Lynch. I did mention it to my GI doc and I guess with just one small polyp he didn't feel it was warrented at this time. Did you have multiple polyps along the way?? Were all Se...

Re: 27 - sessile serrated polyp

I had to reply to your post as I can relate to it so closely. I am a 33 year old female, healthy, and had a colonoscopy back in October after a stomach virus lingered just a little too long. My results were internal hemmes and a single sessile serrated polyp (3mm) in my ascending colon. No history i...

Re: Interval Cancer?

Thanks for all the responses everyone...I can certainly tell you all that i will NOT miss that 3 year follow-up and may even push for sooner if my anxiety keeps up as it has. I am lucky. Mine was small, 2-3mm and had no displaysia or malignancy signs. But because this is such newly diagnosed type of...

Re: Sessile Serrated Polyp

Thanks all....I am certainly not going to miss that 3 year follow up and I may even push for sooner if my anxiety persists as it has. All of my research shows that the 3-year recommendation is standard for my situation (a single 2-3mm sessile serrated polyp with no signs of dysplasia or malignancy),...

Interval Cancer?

Hi all--- Just curious for most of you if you cancer was diagnosis was made during a first-time colonoscopy or it it was an "interval cancer" that grew between screenings? I (33f) recently had a pre-cancerous polyp (3mm sessile serrated) and was told to come back for a 3 year follow up. Ju...

Sessile Serrated Polyp

Hi all! I am a 33 year old female and want to begin by saying that I do NOT have colon cancer (thankfully) but have recently been diagnosed with a polyp that I am quite concerned about and this community seems so helpful and supportive that I decided to post. I am FULLY aware how trivial this will s...
