Re: Back Pain

I don't know if it's common but I had back pain after surgery. I slept with a heating pad for 3 weeks or so after surgery. The pain eventually faded and I don't have any lingering back pain.

Re: Reversal Log: Experience,Problems, Q & A's

Just wanted to provide another good outcome reversal story. I had my temp ileostomy almost 8 months. My reversal was May 27th. Never had an accident, never needed a diaper and didn't need immodium regularly. Pretty much eat what I want and resumed my daily activities with no issues. Do I have some u...

Re: Lynch Syndrome 2013, just diagnosed colon cancer

I was diagnosed with lynch last year shortly after my stage 3 rectal cancer diagnosis. It was a complete shock I have no known relatives with "lynch" cancers on either side. So initially I had no idea of it was paternally or maternally passed to me. My father got tested and was positive. H...

I hope I can convey my feelings in a the spirit with with they're intended- just as another perspective and not trying to negate your feelings. Re: New here, just diagnosed at age 38

I was diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer last May at the age of 37 (with no family history). My kids were 8 and 10 at the time. I too was terrified of leaving my children motherless. However, once the shock wears off you do what you have to do to try to beat this terrible disease. Is the tumor in ...

Re: Radiation & Xeloda

I had xeloda and radiation. 5 days on/2 days off for 5.5 weeks. So essentially Monday-Friday chemo and radiation. Nothing on weekends. Then start over again. I had no issues with the xeloda and honestly the radiation didn't start to get uncomfortable until 4 weeks in or so. Even then it was manageab...

Re: Your 2 cents on stopping oxali

I only completed 4 rounds of oxi out of the recommended 6. It was my oncologist decision to stop oxi based on my reaction. I questioned if it would affect my long term prognosis and they didn't. So now I'm on xeloda only which is completely manageable (i have had no side effects from it) and I'm bac...

Re: Dropping oxi after 4 treatments...any insights?

Hi, I was just diagnosed dec. 23 2013 , had surgery to remove tumor from colon and 1 out of 17 lymph nodes is affected. I start Folfox in two days. What is the breathing problem side effect? What did you do for it? I think that might be the one side effect that I might freak out about. About 20 min...

Re: 6 rounds of FOLFOX??

I was scheduled for six rounds of xelox. I only completed 4 before the oxi reaction become unmanageable. So now I'm only xeloda only for the last 2 cycles. I was assumed stage 3 rectal cancer. Completed chemo/ radiation prior to surgery. Surgery no sign of cancer in tumor or any lymph nodes (26 test...

Re: Dropping oxi after 4 treatments...any insights?

It's a done deal. Just heard from my oncologist. Dropping oxi. Continuing 2 more rounds of xeloda only. Thanks for all the feedback. I'm actually quite relieved to be done with oxi.

Dropping oxi after 4 treatments...any insights?

I just completed my fourth round of oxi (I'm scheduled for a total of 6). I've had a reaction after treatments 2,3,and 4. About 20 minutes after disconnect I get extreme shortness of breath. I sound like a seal kind of like when kids have croup. It's always happen while still at cancer center which ...

Good luck! Keep us updated on your progress. I'm hoping to have my reversal in 2 months, can't wait. Maybe I'm bad, but I still sleep on my stomach with the ileostomy.

I had my rectal surgery 10/8(Tuesday) and was home Friday. I also had hysterectomy and ovaries removed. All in all, 10.5 hours of surgery. So all day Tuesday I was in the or and I recovered in hospital Wednesday and Thursday and was on way home by Friday afternoon. It wasn't easy but I had an epidur...
