Re: 17 year-old suing over forced chemo treatments

If we ("we"--meaning as a country) can charge 13-14 year olds as adults when they commit crimes, with the assumption they not only fully understood the crime but also fully understand the judiciary, then a 17 year old should be assumed to know what drugs she wants in her body.

Re: The long goodbye

I'm sorry, for you both. There may not be a "right" time but I've come to believe there is a "fair" time and an "unfair" time. 35 is not fair. I hope you will have some moments of grace and peace together during these next weeks.

I'm so sorry. I hope you will find some peace and rest in the coming days. I know you are exhausted so be a good caregiver to yourself now.

Re: Wives of husbands with Stage IV Colon Freaking Cancer

Made it through the holidays. On the 26th my brother announced he didn't really want to die but he was tired of living like this. He starts y90 next week, hoping it will relieve some pain and give him some quality time. Here on the threshold of a new year, I find my family in some suspended state, t...

Re: Kindness from Strangers

I so hope your 2015 will be brighter and healthier than your 2014! Sounds like you are on the right track (go Mom!). I just wanted you to know you have also been in the "Kindness from strangers" group. You may not remember, but I do, how kind you were to me when I first came to this board....

Re: What motivates people to get colon screenings?

Having a brother diagnosed did it for me. Since then, sitting in the infusion room, watching the effects of poison, watching the truth of colon cancer unfold for way way way too many. I tell people now that are resistant----take a drive over to the infusion center and tell me that is so much better ...

Re: Wives of husbands with Stage IV Colon Freaking Cancer

tc, I'm sorry for the path you are on, it's so hard for everyone. I hope today was a bit better and that the Hospice people are able to help find ways for you both to have good days. I'm struggling a bit these days. In my heart I know this is the last Christmas my family will look the way it does to...

Re: Port issues

Sorry for the port issues. It always seems so grossly unfair for something like that to occur when there are bigger issues already mucking up your life! You are coming up on a year since the y90----have you had any longer term side effects from it? My brother does y90 next week.

Re: What constitutes a "round" of chemo?

My brother was on Xeloda for a brief period. During that time he took x dosage for x number of days, then had days off. I counted the days he took it as one round, then off, then start next round. I have no idea if this is medically correct/accurate but that is how I thought of it.
