Re: Recommendations for stage 4/liver mets

Hi , Great advise to get another opinion . That’s exactly what happened to my mum. She had a second recurrence with five small mets . The biggest was around I cm. Our positive spin was that the tumour load was considerably smaller than before . However the oncologist was not keen to refer her to a s...

Re: Avastin in UK's NHS vs. USA Healthcare

Hi rp1954 , I think you are correct there . It is a very prescriptive approach , probably because of litigation and protocol and there is not room for independent approaches within the system that could save money . WarriorSpouse, it is also correct that in a stage 4 setting what could be lifesaving...

Re: Avastin in UK's NHS vs. USA Healthcare

Ha , we can not compete with that Mike . Rooms are actually nice here as we have a few new hospitals but I secretly think the food is part of the early discharge programme . It’s so bad patients are doing everything in their power to get home !!! WarriorSpouse , you are so correct in that we learn s...

Re: quarter size mass found in my 13 year old son, need advise.

Hi , I can totally understand why you are concerned and anxious . All I can say is in the nine years I have been here on behalf of my mum I have never seen this . It would be extremely rare, beyond rare. Hopefully they will get those results back to you quickly and give you peace of mind . Take care...

Re: Avastin in UK's NHS vs. USA Healthcare

People don’t seem to realise we also have private medicine . Many people have insurance through work or privately arranged . The NHS recently removed Avastin but kept two other biological agents . Scotland has kept three. If a person wishes to add Avastin to their chemo they can fund it but pay for ...

Re: PVE response

Hi , I think you will be better placed in terms of recovery than my mum as she was down to 27% left to function with . I think the liver conserved it’s functions and her main problem was three stones worth of fluid . The liver just did not produce enough protein to push the fluids through . With hel...

Re: PVE response

All the very best with your liver surgery . It is odd to feel so excited about surgery . That’s how my family felt too . You sound strong . My mum was 69 when she had her big liver op and it’s remained clear for the last seven years . She remains in good shape all things considering . She has had he...

Well done to you husband getting through round one . Now the chemo can go like loaded arrows to knock the tumours out .
Reigning in the spread has begun . I wish him every success .

Re: Will they operate in more than one spot affected. Im so sad

Hi , It is quite common to have a significant spread in the liver and for that to be the only spread . My mum did not have a lung met till seven years later . It’s easy when you have lost confidence in your health for that to roll out and think it’s gone other places but unless they have indicated t...

Re: Update from CEA & CT Scan

Hi , It is a big shock hearing that more treatment is needed when you have already endured so much . I take it that it’s measured in mm ? Possibly the size of a long grape. My mum had one met the size of a small orange , between chemo and surgery they made a good job of reigning it back in . Now you...
