Re: [Update: Lung met confirmed] PET scan not good :(. Anybody's surgeon was able to find a 8mm lung nodule via VATS?

I think your oncologist made a very wise decision . You remind me a lot of my mum . She has a very similar attitude. I really don’t know how she endured the first couple of years whilst the disease made it’s hiding places known. But like you she sought to find the routes through it . After that it s...

Great to hear you are safely through surgery .
My mum had not experienced any further issues and she actually did not do chemo .
Hope everything goes well for you with chemo .

Great to hear you had a super response to chemo . You are a top responder indeed.
My mum had a significant spread to start with so not comparable but she is nine years stage 4 this week . Yippee.
Hope everything goes well with your next lot of surgery .

Re: New Stage IV Diagnosis

Hi . Welcome to the forum . Nine years ago I came here for my mum . We are in the UK so again navigating through a different healthcare system . We have seen the benefits of going to chemo first then seeking surgical opinion. In fact it gives you time to search for the best surgeon . Get them to mee...

Re: Stage 4 Colon Cancer

Hi , Firstly Jim I am unsure exactly how many liver mets you have ? My mum has had over ten and one alone was over five cm . Having chemo first was a good plan as it allowed her to get better margins for surgery. If all your five mets are under 1 cm you need to find out if you have some surgical opt...

Re: Liver spot - abnormal PET

Hi ,
Just realised that your liver met is only one cm . That is a very small spread indeed . There will hopefully be lots of options for you and you can quickly put this behind you .

Re: Stage 4 Colon Cancer

Hi boxhill , It has been incredible watching the changes unfold . I am now reading about fit patients in their eighties getting liver resections . This was not the case ten years ago . I have spent the last decade urging people to get a surgical opinion. I find I have to do it less and less as it’s ...

Re: Stage 4 Colon Cancer

Hi , I have never heard that before Jim . The problem for patients like my mum at 69 , when she had her bigger liver resection , she was at the upper age limit for the procedure . She would also have more risks for surgery and recovery compared to a younger patient . She also had a more significant ...
