Re: Stage 3 to 4

Hi , Just a bit of encouragement. The lung met removal was the easiest surgery to date . My mum had two liver resections. One substantially bigger than the other . The smaller one she managed out sea kayaking for the first time six weeks later and she was 69 at the time . Your chemo will probably be...

Re: Friends, i am struggling, news of cancer are awful

Hi Lydia , It is a lot to digest and find your feet after such news . Purely my opinion from our only family experiences but I believe in situations like this where it’s gone and the size matters less than how responsive you are to treatment . My mum’s liver shocked us into silence . My family are a...

Re: Stage 4 Hope

Hi Lovelife , The photo is for you with mum’s permission. She was 67 at diagnosis but very fit . She is 76 in the photo and as you can see is keeping well . Sometimes she makes me laugh as it turns out you can do a lot despite missing several parts of your major organs . She has some impairment from...

Re: Stage 4 Hope

Hi Janet , Really sorry to hear you require more treatment . Mum went straight to chemo and it was a good plan . It allowed strinkage to occur and pulled in any stray cells . After surgery she did not have any chemo which is where our countries may differ in approach . Back in 2009 there truely were...

Re: MSI or MSS

Hi , Just a little update . A clinical trial has opened up . It will allow some access to immunotherapy . So pleased about that . Had a little fright about the European aspect of drug control but other cancer types have managed it so hopefully colon cancer will get some options too . Will keep you u...

Stage 4 Hope

Just to encourage all who are starting out with a stage 4 diagnosis.
Mum scanned well and has now entered her ninth year since diagnosis.
The first few years were rough but her quality of life is good .
Hope is gives a little light to some on this path.

Re: colon cancer - 19 F (help?)

I am really sorry to hear about your cousin . I think your fears are legitimate. I really hope you can get the strength to follow up with your Doctors . Did your cousin get genetic counselling? It pays to get into the system and have good monitoring put in place . Take one small step in the right di...
