Re: Calling all aussies

A member here tiggie_train went to Peter Mac Cancer Centre in Melbourne for HIPEC in December 2013. Sadly, she had signet ring cell cancer (aggressive) and her HIPEC did not proceed due to extensive spread and she has since passed away. Peter Mac Cancer Centre is well respected in Melbourne so it is...

Re: Chemo Ingredient List

That is a common chemo mixture that many on this board would have had - Folfox plus Avastin with anti-nausea drugs. fluorouracil, leucovorin, oxaliplatin combined are Folfox bevacizumab is Avastin dexamethasone, palonosetron, fosaprepitant are to prevent nausea (dexamethasone can also help with appe...

Re: an update: HIPEC wasn't successful :-(

I had been thinking of you and wondering how your surgery went.
Sorry it did not have a positive outcome and so many complications.
Hope you continue to improve with your recovery and get a plan in place with your onc for the next steps.

Re: DON'T WANT TO DO OXALIPLATIN !!!!

Sorry you are having to go through everything you are dealing with at the moment. Of course the chemo choices are totally your decision but remember you can always try it and stop if it becomes too much. My family member (stage 4, inoperable) was initially not going to do chemo and just let the dise...

Re: Mets in abdomen - SRC

Dear Jacekica, I don't have any advice or know what to say. Truly saddened by your news. I have only been reading the forum for a few months but have admired how supportive and helpful you are to others with your posts and your willingness to share your experiences. I know it doesn't really help at ...

Re: Day 3

Hi Voxx, We also worried about the same thing with my father that you mentioned in your last post – he has been lucky to not have had any bad effects from chemo so we also wondered whether that meant the cancer may be tolerating the chemo just as good as the rest of his body and not shrinking. Other...

Re: Day 2

Hi Voxx66, Thanks for posting your updates, it is interesting to read your chemo experience. You mention you are disconnecting tomorrow and think it might be ‘when the real fun starts’. You might be lucky and not have too much trouble, my father is 6 rounds into Folfox and does not experience fatigu...

Re: Your stories - Anyone with Stage 3 decided against chemo

I probably don’t have a right to comment since I am not a cancer patient myself, so I hope I don’t offend anyone as I understand everyone needs to make their own personal decision of what is right for them. However, if I was stage 3, I would choose the chemo. This is your wife’s life on the line and...

Re: Help with chemo

Hi Cherie, I can only comment based on what I observed with my father as I have not had chemo myself. He is currently 6 rounds into chemo and so far the start was actually hardest as he needed to figure out what works for him to make him feel better. I can only re-iterate what others have said ‘Stay...

Re: Snake oil

Hi Cherie, I can't comment on natural remedies but I have read some of your other posts regarding concerns starting chemo and just wanted to advise you to make sure you stay hydrated, especially since you have an ileostomy. My father is also on chemo with an ileostomy and once he started paying more...
