Re: For Stage III's: NED for how long now?

Wow, it has been 5 years since my surgery and my oncologist has set me loose. I finally feel ready to post on this thread. Details are in the signature.

Re: Pregnancy after colon cancer

I know this is an old thread but for others searching this topic I thought I would add an update.

Almost five years after diagnosis, I had a baby boy this past June.

Re: Checking In; BrownBagger Update

I don't post much but I still keep my eye out for updates. I bought a bike recently and thought about all those miles you have logged post diagnosis. I even thought about buying an odometer! Your strength inspires. Take care.

Re: Two years NED stage 4

I am very pleased to see that you are celebrating 2 years NED. When I first started to visit colon club your story stood out to me since our initial colon surgeries were not that far apart and we were both mothers of young children. Congratulations and enjoy your day!

Re: Do swollen lymph nodes from colectomy=cancerous lymph no

My surgeon did not comment on the appearance of my lymph nodes after my surgery. My CT scan before hand just made note that a small lymph node was visible. So I think most of my nodes were not enlarged. It was a shock for me and I think perhaps even my surgeon that cancer was found in four of my lym...

Re: Bone Island on a bone

At the time of dx my 1st ct scan noted some bone islands. On my 2nd ct scan last May it stated, "Small stable sclerotic densities are noted in the proximal femurs and pelvis consistent with incidental bone islands, of no clinical significance." Mine were mentioned in both reports so my sit...

Re: WHY did you pick your NAME here???

When I was in college I had a friend who gave me the nickname manders. My real name is Amanda and I have never cared for nicknames but thought manders made a decent screen name.

Re: What age should you have a colonoscopy if CC in the fami

I have also heard the 10 years prior to my age at diagnosis. I was 34 when I was diagnosed, so that would mean my son would be screened at 24. But I have already told my husband that I think my son should be screened when he finishes high school - even if we have to pay for it out of pocket. I guess...

Re: HAPPY BIRTHDAY - ALL CC WITH JULY BIRTHDAYS

My birthday is July 17 and I am turning 36. Last year on my birthday I drove an hour north to meet the surgeon who would perform my colon resection surgery the next week. My spouse and I really liked the surgeon and left feeling very confident in her abilities - best present I could have asked for g...

Re: Standard of care after treatment/NED - Stage III or othe

I finished chemo in Feb and had a follow up CT scan in May and blood work. I am getting a colonoscopy in a few weeks at about the 1 year mark. Not sure about when they will rec. follow up colonoscopies after that. I am getting blood work every three months. I thought I would be getting yearly scans ...
