Re: I was so lucky to find this forum a decade ago

I'm stage 3b, sometimes i get worried about recurrance, i have random aches and pains and immediately think its something bad :( I STILL get them. One time it was from a kidney stone. Another was my gallbladder aching. I mentioned my aches and pains to my onc at one point and he gave me some sage a...

Re: New guy with old questions.

RP, Thank you for that thoughtful and helpful reply, very interesting. It brings to mind a couple of my own thoughts and questions. First, before settling on my current team of doctors I did engage a team from Memorial Sloan Kettering in NY. Initially their plan included Total Neo-adjuvant therapy ...

Re: Need recommendations for a cream for neuropathy

Hello! I underwent 12 sessions of FOLFOX regimen 8 years ago. Neuropathy first appeared after the 11th session, but then disappeared, and I was strongly advised to go through with the last session. I was told that since neuropathy appeared so late in the treatment, it will disappear again. But when...

IIIc Going on 11 years NED!

Hello survivors! I remember when I first came on this forum, scared to death, I found a post of a women who was a IIIc and 5 years NED. She said she irrigated, put a waterproof bandage over her stoma, and wore a bikini on the beach. The idea of her living life, smiling, and having fun in the sun on ...

Re: For Stage III's: NED for how long now?

it seems a lot of people had reoccurrences :( Not me!! Going on 11 years NED. When I was diagnosed, I was told I was as close to a stage IV as you could get without actually being a stage IV. The radiation oncologist told me my chances were 50/50. It was very scary and for months I believed I was g...

Re: Swinging Chicken

Oh same here. Bev seemed "famous" to me when I first posted on here. I was so honored when she wrote at length to answer my questions about radiation. I had a horrible surgery recovery and was on a wound vac for three months. I couldn't move, I was in so much pain. I would spend all day re...

Waxing Whistful - 8 years since diagnosis

Hello all, I personally found it incredibly inspiring to hear of a IIIc who was five-years cured and back to living life when I first was diagnosed. The image of having a bandage over my irrigated stoma in a bathing suit laughing on a sunny beach was #Goals for me (although I'm super lazy about irri...

Re: A series of unfortunate events

Team, This is my first post, but I have been a long term reader and I really appreciate all the knowledge transfer and supportiveness I have gained from reading everyone's posts... I had my first colonoscopy ever at age 55 (which was the first unfortunate event) and I wish I had a time machine to h...

Re: Stage 3, likelihood of recurrence after resection & chemotherapy

I was also staged at 3c and I interpreted what I read online to mean that only 25% of 3c patients were even alive in 5 years. Either way, I like 60% much better. This always perplexed me. US Seer data and whatnot show Stage IIIc survival around 28% but Canada, for example, shows a survival rate of ...

Re: Does anyone have experience Jane McLelland and starving cancer?

I know that PeteLostAtSea was on a keto diet for quite a long time with supplements, etc. but still had cancer spread and died. This is what you typically find with real-world examples of people who apply things in books like this. The people who are successful are never someone you know or don't ha...

Re: Ostomy site pain and output

I had this happen my first time going out to dinner. I was doubled over with pain the next day, and almost the whole day. My daughter's friend came over and was very concerned that it was cancer. No, I just ate too much. From what I understand, the colon shrinks some after this kind of surgery, so t...

Re: Stage 3, likelihood of recurrence after resection & chemotherapy

Each stage has it's own general recurrence percentages. You won't get a good gauge of that on this site because people usually come here who are just getting started or have had a recurrence. Generally, 80 to 90% of people who are stage I, II, and III go through standard treatment and are cured. The...

Re: It's come back - :(

Hi All, It's been a long time since I have posted. Life has been cruising along for the past 6 years, running around after a energetic 6 year old, working and just enjoying life. And now it's all come to a crashing halt again because after almost 8 years, my cancer has come back. What we thought wo...

Re: Oxaliplatin Dosage - Call Off

Hello! I haven't been on here in quite a while. I'm not sure what made this site pop in my head just now. I was terrified of Oxi because of the risk of permanent severe neuropathy. My oncologist only did 6 rounds (I think), and my research showed that some trials included data from patients who only...
