Re: Just need to vent because I’m angry

Nobody “wants” to be sick for the duration of chemo, or for any duration for that matter. If I’d looked at things in the short term that way and not in terms of the ultimate end result, I would have stopped oxaliplatin much earlier (and may not have kept getting pregnant, knowing I’d have awful naus...

Yoga for “women’s cancer” (ugh)

Hi everyone! I’ve not posted in a long time, so I thought I’d come here to bitch and complain. Haha A new cancer center opened by me, and they have some great programs. One of them is an exercise series with all kinds of classes, including yoga. I was surprised (and somewhat annoyed) to see the clas...

Re: Scared of surgery in need of wisdom...

I can relate to where he is coming from. I was terrified before my first surgery. I even posted here about being so scared of the general anesthesia. I did a combo surgery: first a c-section to deliver my baby (for which I was awake), then a combo colon resection and partial hysterectomy. A certain ...

Re: Liver has been chopped!!

Amy, I’m so glad your recovery is going well. I’ve been following your posts. I remember lying in bed with my own baby after the liver resection. It will be six years this Saturday since that surgery, and my liver has been cancer-free since then. I hope you are able to relax and take it easy at home...

Re: O/T : I wish Brownbagger were here

CRguy, thanks for this. I miss reading Eric’s posts here. I miss others too. Sometimes I use the search to go back to read and reflect on posts of the “old timers” and also of those no longer with us. Thank you for all you have done here- all those you have supported in this community over the years...

Re: Intro, and please give your feedback

Hi TinaFish- I’m so sorry you have to deal with this as a single mom of young kids. I just wanted to offer my support and say I’m following your threads and sending warm wishes. I don’t post much, but I like to keep up with the news of the many long-term survivors here. You seem to be getting such g...

Re: Managing erractic mood swings. Is psychologist the answer ?

I’m sorry you are going through this. I also could have written this post, and did actually write a similar one way back when on this board. Around that time I went on Celexa, and it did wonders to stabilize my mood. I’ve also felt therapy was helpful now and then, but the medication helped the most...

Re: Newly diagnosed stage 4 colon cancer at 42. Looking for hope and inspiration.

Hi! I was also diagnosed at 42. That was 5 1/2 years ago. I was treated at both MSKCC and at NYU. I was on ADAPT long-term, but stopped all treatment when I reached the 5 year mark this past May.

You can see there are quite a few stage 4 long-term survivors here. :)

Re: Im mentally breaking

Sorry that you’re feeling this way. Of course, it’s completely understandable. Back when I felt like that (and I did) I went to therapy and I took an antidepressant. Both of those things helped tremendously. At first, I didn’t understand what an antidepressant could do to help since the fact that I ...

Re: Colonoscopy prep question

Were you able to get an answer?
I usually request a specific prep from my doctor: Prepopik. I’ve done the Miralax too. I think as long as everything is cleaned out, things should be fine.
Good luck!

Re: ADAPT and Celebrex - What happened?

I was on the ADAPT protocol for three years. 2000 X/ 400 C. I never got HFS either- I never made the connection with the Celebrex! That’s very interesting.
I went off this past Memorial Day because I’d been NED for some time. I have a scan 11/8.

Best,

Re: Stage 4 to NED- Please tell us

Hello, I’m not usually on the board a lot anymore, but I wanted to chime in because I also thought I was stage III, after I was told the spot on my liver was most likely a hemangioma. I remember finding out after the biopsy that it was cancer, and feeling hopeless and looking for long term survivors...
