My wife, 10 years NED - stage IV

Hello, I used to frequent this board quite a bit back in '07-'09, as most caregivers do.. a significant amount of time has passed, and so has the need for peer support I suppose ? Anyway, just stopping by to offer some encouragement, I know that amid dealing with this shit that it's nice to read abo...

Hey CRguy !!! Glad to see you're still hanging around over here ! Hope life hasn't been too hard on you since we last chatted ? How are things ? Man, coming back here unleashes a tidal wave of memories, going through my old private messages & posts... kinda hard actually, reminds me of what we w...

Re: My wife - Stage IV survivor, 9 years NED.

As a caregiver (can't speak for the people who are patients themselves) it always gave me a lot of hope knowing that there were some people who made it. I do understand that there are some folks who are facing certain situations that find these posts hard to read, and I feel for them.. lovelife , sh...

Re: too young for this

Hi jenlynn, My wife was diagnosed when she was 28, 6 days after the birth of our youngest son (oldest was 14 months). It comes to almost everyone as a surprise, but to hear something like that when you're so young isn't at all what you're expecting. There are a couple others/caregivers here who are ...

Re: If you want prayer stop in here!

For anyone who's willing, can you pray that Steph would continue to do as well as she is right now. Pray that she'll be healed & around long enough to raise our two boys. Can you also pray for Josh Shiskoski, he's a friend of mine that broke his back this past Sunday (Jan 24/'10) while riding hi...

Re: I have an ostomy - and I'm ok.

I'll say again what I've said before: a cancer support board should be about offering people a safe place to ask tough questions and express their fears and concerns - and just because we have different opinions doesn't mean we have to have flame wars. Wow Gaelen, what a message of tolerance & ...

Re: A vent about people better off...

CBR600319, I've been reading this thread and just want to make a side-bar comment that is off the topic. One real positive that your wife has is you. I think it's terrific that she has such a passionate defender and a husband who obviously cares so much. By the way, I did 8 rounds of FOLFOX and I c...

Re: A vent about people better off...

cancer isn't a contest. Making assumptions about what diagnosis I, as a stage IV patient, would be willing to 'trade' for, is something I find offensive. Don't put words into my mouth Gaelen. #1) I never said cancer was a contest. #2) I never said their experiences aren't valid. #3) I never said I'...

Re: A vent about people better off...

As I understand it, the chemo for Hodgkins is some serious lose your hair kick you in the nuts kind of stuff. At least most people I know who have done it could not work through it. It seems like it is fast and furious and then its over. During my wife's initial 18 rounds of Folfox she was VERY sic...

Re: A vent about people better off...

Thanks for the replies, I have a hard time accepting any crap/frustration that people cause my wife. She's been through hell and doesn't need any more sh*t from anyone. A lot of you really understand where I'm coming from, thanks ! A couple months ago I got into it with my b-i-l, during the 2 years ...

Re: A vent about people better off...

I agree that cancer freaks people out, and whatever you're dealing with personally is going to be the biggest issue for you. I've known too many people from this board who've had more than their fair share of sh*t, a lot of those people aren't here with us anymore. And I agree that any chemo sucks, ...

A vent about people better off...

I don't mean to offend anyone here, so if you are please know that's not my intention. My wife and I have known 3 people dx'd with Hodgkin's lymphoma since her dx in April of '07. Two of those people are from her home town (which we've just moved back to), one of them sends e-mail "updates"...
