Re: 10 Years and Counting

Congrats! I was thinking about Dress in Blue day this coming Friday and randomly decided to check out the board. According to the stats it’s been 7 years since I last logged in, almost 9 since I lost Bill5107. So glad to see some of his old CC pals doing well. I’m sure he’s still cheering you all on...

Re: New thread for loved ones left behind

So nice to see this thread here. I haven't checked out the board in quite some time. I alternate between coming back to a place where Bill found so much community and support and staying away for fear of learning of more loss. So hard sometimes to realize he has been gone for 20 months. Sometimes it...

Re: OT/ Relay For Life: Clever Slogans Needed

Thanks, I've been thinking about calling them relay buddies with flags that say stroll with a troll. Actually saw some mini crochet monsters I might do with flags that say cancer is the real monster. Now I just gotta try out the patterns ;^)

OT/ Relay For Life: Clever Slogans Needed

So our Boyscout troop enrolled me in captaining our team for relay for life this year. (Fortuanately I have some co-captains as I've been feeling spread a bit thin lately) Our primary fundraiser will be paracord rope bracelets made by the boys (I love the tie in of scouting and survival). And we hav...

Re: OT: Calling on Bill5107 Pals to Swing Some Chickens

Surgery went well. There was no sign of infection internally so they were able to put the plate in as well. Initially Thomas didn't think they had put in the screws too....so his Aunt asked him if that meant she couldn't ask him if he had a screw loose...yes we all have that crazy sense of humor. Ac...

I saw this the other day and just couldn't bring myself to post. I hope she has found peace.

Re: OT: Calling on Bill5107 Pals to Swing Some Chickens

Tuesday after 5 days of antibiotics it appeared Thomas' mass was looking worse instead of better. As a result it was recommended that he be admitted via the ER for IV antibiotics. An updated MRI showed progression and bleeding under the mass. Surgery is now scheduled for tomorrow morning. They will ...

Re: OT: Calling on Bill5107 Pals to Swing Some Chickens

An update in our continuing saga..... We arrived at preop, got him in his jammies and set up with IV. Met, the surgeon, anethesiolist and infectious disease staff. And postponed surgery. Last night the mass started "oozing" and looked even worse this morning. (Tuesday night it looked like ...

Re: OT: Calling on Bill5107 Pals to Swing Some Chickens

GreenLakeGirl....those are great ;^)

I'm going to have to explain the mullet one to him I'm sure.

He's definitely ready. Driving home tonight he told me he was glad surgery was scheduled for Thursday because the bump was getting to be a nuisance. (Master of understatement in my opinion!)

Re: OT: Calling on Bill5107 Pals to Swing Some Chickens

Thanks for the puns. He definitly likes the idea. I think part of the reason he likes them so much is that most of the time he is a very literal kid (seems to be a side effect of the PDD-NOS for him). I took him a while to get the hole in the head one, but he did finally get it. Today we had to canc...

Re: OT: Calling on Bill5107 Pals to Swing Some Chickens

We met with the neurosurgeon today. Surgery is scheduled for March 21. CAT and MRI show that the mass has fully penetrated the skull but has not penetrated the membrane/brain. This kid though has his father's sense of humor. When he found out it went there was already a hole in his skull, he thought...

Re: Handicap Parking

From a caregiver's perspective:

Get one before you really need it.

With Bill it allowed me to drop him at the door then be back quickly to support and/or minimize the walk back for him. This became increasingly important for doctor visits and trips to the ER.
