Re: Sloppy abdominal muscles

I'm right-side flabby. I was an athletic 150 lbs when I was hospitalized. A month later, I bottomed out at 125 and looked like Montgomery Burns from the Simpsons. I went into weight gain mode for the year following surgery, and I topped out at a chubby 175. I'm back down to about 155 now (I want to ...

Re: Stupid things ppl tell you...

I was overwhelmed by the well-intended opinions offered by friends and family when they learned about my cancer. Holistic approaches, intense prayer, aggressive surgeries, do nothing... I mentioned to my oncologist during my first visit all the unsolicited advice I was subjected to, and I asked his ...

Re: May Exercise Thread

I've been interrupted the last two nights when I awoke suddenly with the understanding that I needed to change my pouch, so I slept until 6 and did a calisthenics day instead of running. Tomorrow is a run day, cals again on Thursday, then bike or long run Friday (my day off).

Re: How many with Lynch Syndrome?

I'm MLH and PMS2 negative, and the only CRC patient in my family except for a great grandfather who got it in his 70s - but they suspect Lynch anyway. Since my resection in Dec. 2011, they've removed two more pre-cancerous polyps. I have a pre-emptive full colectomy scheduled for August. Even with t...

Re: Does anyone have a colorectal tattoo?

My CRC tattoo is placed directly over where the tumor was, my left, just below the rib cage. That's it in my avatar.

Re: Upcoming Colonoscopy - MoviPrep? Tips? Anxiety Managemen

I didn't have MoviPrep for my colonoscopy. My prep wasn't horrible, just busy. My anxiety was the hard part. I have a stump of colon hanging (internally) off my ostomy, and another off my rectum, so they had to go in with the scope from three different angles. I was terrified. When it came time for ...
