Recurrence Timeline Stats

Hello All, I have seen some of the stats about the likeliest time to have a recurrence, but what I'm not quite sure about is when they are counting out from. For example, if most recurrences happen in the first 1-2 years, does that mean 1-2 years after surgery or 1-2 years after chemo. I feel pretty...

Re: Feeling so sick after sigmoid resection

Yes, it gets better for almost everyone. It takes some times and some people have more difficulty than others, but it should improve dramatically. Your body has a lot of healing to do. Just be sure and let your doc know everything that you are feeling. They will want to be on the lookout for any kin...

Re: Newly Diagnosed

Just wanted to say good luck. I did chemo last year. It is was no walk in the park to say the least, but as bad as those months were, they did end and now I feel great. I'm sure you know that people's experiences with chemo can be very different depending on a multitude of factors. Even each round o...

Re: Eat or not before chemo treatments ???

I was so sick and had so little appetite during chemo that I ate whenever and whatever I could manage. Since I was usually at my best right before treatment, I generally ate a little something. But I had a stricture that wasn't corrected until I was halfway through chemo, and that made my sickness m...

I wish you could say "no thanks" too. Sometimes it just isn't fair, is it? I'm sending my best wishes.

Re: Weight loss after chemo

Cherie, on the neuro, mine did get worse before it started to get better. They say for most people it peaks about a month out after treatment, but I think mine peaked more like 2 or 3 months after I stopped the oxali (I stopped it early and kept on with just the FU). Besides the nerve damage, my occ...

Re: Still a little shocked

I remember agonizing over the decision to stop the Oxali. Now I can't even remember if I did 9 or 10 treatments with it...chemo brain! I had similar feelings. I didn't want to "give up" but the oxali was keeping my platelets so slow that I couldn't do any treatment at all unless I ...

Re: Stage IIIC One Year After Diagnosis

Hi Cherie, The physical thing that is taking the longest for me is the neuropathy. I had it really bad in my hands and feet. It has improved immensely in my hands, but not as much in my feet. Somehow I am able to ignore my feet most of the time during the day, though they usually flare up in the eve...
