Billy, you are right on! I don't post much but read this board at least every other day. It's amazing how often the questions I may have are already the topic of someone elses posts.

Welcome, IowaBoy. I live in Davenport, too. I'm one of the lucky ones - Stage 1 rectal cancer. Found it early and treated agressively. I'm currently on chemo - 5FU. If you want, you could email me directly and I'll answer any questions you may have.

Hey Molly! I received my spring issue of CURE magazine today & was happy to see the nice article featuring you. Also a nice mention of the Colon Club. Thanks for all you do & keep on getting the word out there. That's what we're all about, right??

Thanks to both of you for your replys. I finally decided to ask my oncologist today and he said not to perm because of the possibility of burning my scalp. I am already experiencing extremely dry hands and feet - esp. around my cuticles. They recommended Aquaphor but I find that to be awfully greasy...

Hair Care

I'm currently on 5-FU and Leucovorin once a week. I know that hair loss is not a side effect. Does any one know if a chemical treatment (either a perm or hair color) will react differently or not at all during chemo? My stylist couldn't answer and I'm not sure I want to take the risk without knowing...

Intro - new member

I've been reading Rolling to Recovery & the guest book entries since June when I was diagnosed with Stage I rectal cancer. I think I must have been in denial since then because everyone else seems so much worse than I am. To make a long story short I'll be starting chemo and radiation therapy ne...
