Re: A view from the outside in

I think I can give you "a view from the outside in", perhaps, because I am not a cancer patient, but a (former) caregiver. I've always admired people who have the balls to post pictures of themselves on the internet. I'm assuming the picture attached to your post is you, of course. I look ...

Re: Wives of husbands with Stage IV Colon Freaking Cancer

I won't say she's in denial, but I think if she lets herself think she has not much longer, that it would come true. We have been (and continue to go) to a counsellor but only skirt around the life and death topic. My biggest thing is to see her not suffer, and I know she is already feeling guilty ...

Re: Three Years Ago Today . . .

It will be one year ago that my wife passed away July 28. I have felt the need to check back here on CC just to see how everybody is doing; all of those who were so kind and supportive during the final months and weeks of her life. I can't get the images out of my mind; her eyes, so sunken and gaunt...

Re: Mean Boss

Hi Newmexico. I'm not a cancer patient, I'm a caregiver. That being said, what you posted about your boss just makes my blood boil. I've got friends in New Mexico. Maybe I should go visit them, drop by your place of employment, and give your boss a nice solid PILEDRIVER and put him in a wheel chair ...

Re: New thread for loved ones left behind

My dear friend has been gone eight months now and I'm still a complete and utter mess. I think about her the moment I lay down to sleep at night and the first moment I awaken. The void left in my life is absolutely CAVERNOUS. I don't know why I still lurk Colon Club. I guess I've grown to care about...

Re: Saying hello and goodbye...

It's going to take a long, long time to begin feeling even remotely "normal" again. It's going to take a long, long time to relearn what to do with those hours you used to spend caring for your beloved wife. Make sure you take care of YOURSELF. Take good care of your nutrition and your hea...

Re: My soulmate, my husband, my love, Michael is free

So terribly sorry to hear of your loss, and your husband's suffering. You were so very kind to me, during my brief stay here on CC. The coming days will be difficult, once the struggle is over and you reflect on days past. There are no mere words that can adequately describe the true horror and hear...

So sorry to hear. Much, much too young.

So many of us here who have loved, and lost.

Re: Colon Cancer Wish it never existed.

It's been 79 days that my wife has been gone, but the pain is just as fresh as if it happened yesterday. I have this image that haunts me, the first thing I visualize when I wake up and the last thing I think of when I turn in for the night. The bitter, bitter tears she wept when they told her in la...

Re: Where to begin?

I am angry - as always - when I hear of another person getting this disease. I have a very personal grudge with CRC and am unlikely to ever get over it. No truer words have ever been spoken or written than these. I came to this site looking for information when my wife got sick, and now I'm emotion...

Re: Break down in scan room

Hi Ashlee: Two things, (a) I'm a 6'3", 300+ pound, burly, bearded, surly lumberjack looking kinda GUY and (b) it was my WIFE who was the cancer patient and yes, I've completely broken down in tears twice, once in the infusion room (when she had to have a blood transfusion) and once in the ICU (...

Re: Stuck in a Florida Hospital - want to go home.

I don't have any great advice for you but I sure do understand your desire to come home to Wisconsin. The weather here.....has been absolutely GORGEOUS. Upper 40s at night, low-to-mid 60s in the daytime, first splashes of autumnal splendor. Some people mock and make fun of Wisconsin, like all we hav...

Praying that your scans come out clean for you.

You were always so incredibly kind to me.

All the rest of the car stuff is "just stuff" if you have your health.

Re: Wives of husbands with Stage IV Colon Freaking Cancer

Totally understand where everybody is coming from watching their loved ones on the final leg of the journey. I never understood what "frustration" meant until I attempted to cook meals for a colon cancer patient. Lovingly, carefully prepared, not over-seasoned, nothing too greasy or heavy....
