Re: My soulmate, my husband, my love, Michael is free

Thank you all so much for your kind words. This past 6 weeks has been more difficult than I could ever have imagined. I thought I was prepared emotionally, but nothing could have prepared me to watch my love take his last breath. Continued prayers for all battling, so family should have to go throug...

My soulmate, my husband, my love, Michael is free

As many of you may have heard, the love of my life has passed away. Monday, January 20,2014 at 4:45 am he took his last breath. A few times on Sunday he kept lifting his arms as if reaching for something, due to tumors in his neck he wasn't able to speak clearly, but around midnight he said in a vo...

Re: Wives of husbands with Stage IV Colon Freaking Cancer

Bldblu, Michael's weight has gone up and down throughout the 19 months. I personally wouldn't worry about one week weight loss, see how is over the next few weeks, Michael has always had ensure, if her didn't /doesn't feel like eating I make him have one of those a couple of times a day. That way I ...

Re: Wives of husbands with Stage IV Colon Freaking Cancer

Good Sunday morning all, I have some reading to do to catch up how everyone is doing. I haven't been on in a while. Michael is not well, he is very unsteady in his feet and has fallen a couple of times recently. Our girls aren't doing well at all. I have had to take our 15 year old out of school and...

Re: Wives of husbands with Stage IV Colon Freaking Cancer

Sfl, Michael took over the living too quite a few months ago. He has to lie down, because his back and back end hurt when he sits too long. Our couch is an L shaped, so there is still the chaise part and the love seat for guests. I also have rockers in our living room. If he gets up to go to the bat...

Re: Wives of husbands with Stage IV Colon Freaking Cancer

The more I think of the thief that is robbing us all of life as we knew it and of our futures the more I want to SCREAM. It is such a nightmare. It makes me crazy. So glad to have this forum to vent and support each other. Sending love and prayers to all of you. Please join me and pray for the scie...

Re: Wives of husbands with Stage IV Colon Freaking Cancer

Kathy, I have searched and searched for financial assistance for caregivers and/or spouses and there is nothing out there. I have had to resort to fundraising, I just couldn't keep doing this. (Just don't do it on here...I learned this morning..oops) I wish there was something I could point you towa...

Re: Wives of husbands with Stage IV Colon Freaking Cancer

Hi all, Just thought I would check in, it's been a busy week/month. I just read through all the recent posts, in a way I'm glad there is activity and we all have someplace to come for support, but it is so saddening to see how many are suffering, and this is only the wives thread. I have a terrible ...

Re: Wives of husbands with Stage IV Colon Freaking Cancer

Oh, I am so glad you all opened up and shared your true feelings. I have been so overwhelmed this week, it's been crazy! Last weekend we had my 2 nephews and one of their wives, toddler and infant, as well as Michael's brother and his wife...luckily they stayed in the little house, but were in and o...

Bev, you are incredible! Thank you for starting this thread!! I haven't read through the whole thread yet, but I will tonight. Our girls are 10 & 15. Not only do we have to deal with dad having only a couple of months to live, but we are going through drivers Ed, pre/puberty, menopause. We have ...

Re: Wives of husbands with Stage IV Colon Freaking Cancer

Hi Judy, Oh dear "Take care of yourself". That is one of those bits of advice that I hate. I know the other person means well, my answer is usually a lie "oh, of course, thank you" I find it hard to do anything for myself. I don't go out, I find it hard to have fun because he isn...

Re: Wives of husbands with Stage IV Colon Freaking Cancer

Helen, I'm with you being so distraught that so many of us have to be here! Everyone of you are continually in my prayers!! I'm just so overwhelmed reading all these updates, and here I was prepared to give an update tonight, but I don't know how much I'm going to get to write. I started last night ...

Re: Family rant

Oh goodness, I'm so sorry you've had to deal with such behavior, I agree it is probably better they left early! DH's family has driven me nuts since the day we married 17 years ago, but since his dx they have gotten 100x worse. A few months after he was diagnosed his sister (who lives on the other s...

Re: Wives of husbands with Stage IV Colon Freaking Cancer

I knew last night he was taking this cat thing too far when he asked me to carry all his pillows and supplies upstairs. He usually has a hard time up and down the stairs so he tends to sleep downstairs. I sleep in both places, depends on how much my back hurts, if its a good day, I couch it, if bad ...
