Re: Digestive Issues after Ostomy Reversal

Not to be a Debbie Downer, butt I'm 7+ years out and I still get loose stools if I eat the wrong foods. I went from being a live to eat person to an eat to live person. Don't get me wrong I still love food, but there sre many triggers and sometimes it's just not worth i. I avoid going to events wher...

Re: Clustering & marshmallows

Hey Dave, I also do much better when I don't snack and get consistent exercise. I find myself using the marshmallows most for eating foods that go through too fast - like lots of vegetables, soups and tomato based foods. I've also have been able to eat oatmeal again. Would definitely cause some clus...

Clustering & marshmallows

Hi All, I've been fighting clustering from the get go & was really starting to get annoyed on how it kept infringing on my life. Did a bit of research and came upon comments of people with ileostomies using marshmallows to slow down output so they could change their bags. I remembered that from ...

Re: Any prepping and scoping buddies out there ?

I'm in need of mine and need to schedule. Used Suprep last time & won't be doing that again.

Best wishes for a gentle clean out and a clean out...come.

Peace, Kristi

Re: LAR Syndrome and Water

I like water and drink as much as I can, but there can be issues with water around eating. The more water I drink around a meal the waterier my poop becomes and that's no good because it can cause clustering or looser stool which is another problem. So I try and drink my water inbetween meals. Soup ...

Re: O/T : I wish Brownbagger were here

Thanks CRguy. I miss him too, think of him often and miss his garden pictures. I also miss his picture of Einstein on a bike. I'm back to biking myself & wish I could share with him.

Gone butt not forgotten. Peace Brownbagger.

Re: Post cancer fatigue

Sadysue, thanks for posting. We're about the same time out and it's taken me this long to figure out that fatigue was a big issue. Peace to you on your journey - I know how much it sucks. Feel free to PM me if you want to chat.

Post cancer fatigue

I was just wondering how many survivors here suffer from post cancer fatigue. I keep thinking I'll get better, and I do exercise, but then a day will hit and I can't get off the couch. Hard to explain to non-survivors.

Re: jpouch rectal pains

I had a lot of pain post surgery, etc that lasted for years. I had an adhesion that took about 3 years to go away - with a great deal of diligence on my part. Just recently getting to the point where I can sit for extended periods of time without pain - almost 7 years out. All I can say is to stick ...

Re: Stool Issues After Surgery?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you're in a marathon and you will have a new normal that may take YEARS to establish. Try some Imodium and maybe keep a food log so you can see whst your triggers are. Also, please consider adding a signature so people have more info when responding. Have pati...

Re: CLUSTERINGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!

The "pat pat" happens a lot easier if you have a bidet (the kind that attach to your toilet). I swear by my biffy and you have no bottle waste. It's: gently wipe, water, pat/wipe, rinse and repeat if necessary.

Re: xeloda

Sounds like Hand and Foot syndrome from Xeloda. I had it really bad. Very different from neuropathy from oxilplatin. My feet got very hot and red like you're talking about. I would contact your dr re. your symptoms. I had soft cushy (high pile) wool rugs that I could step on for softness. High pile ...

Re: Vaginal stenosis - an issue for women with rectal cancer

My issue has been with the width not the depth. I gave birth to a 12 lb child so when I used the dilators they seemed to do nothing. I've been celibate (not by choice) since my treatment, but the vaginal opening is very tight and if anything tried to get in there I'm pretty sure I would tear. Not lo...
