My CEA rise history.

It's been a long while since I checked in here. I see some familiar people and some new ones (unfortunately). Lots of things have happened to me both health wise and personal such as going through a nasty divorce along with child custody issues. Health wise, I'm now dealing with hypertension along w...

Re: Back again with rising CEA now at 80

zx10guy, despite all the aggravation your high CEA values are causing, I'm sure many would love to be in the same situation (abnormal CEA but nothing cancer wise). My husband's most recent CEA was 51, yet his scan is stable... I really hope he's another anomaly!! Of course. There are those that wis...

Re: Back again with rising CEA now at 80

Actually you were the first person that sprung into my mind . It was more a technical issue of knowing how to reference your threads . But I have gone away and learnt ! ( I think !) Good to see you on the forum though ! Are you still taking some great photography? Hope life is treating you well . S...

Re: Back again with rising CEA now at 80

I haven't been here for some time. Trying to move on with life. If you do a search under my username, you'll see my posts on my CEA journey for now coming up on 4 years. Some times I feel I'm talking to a wall with the various support forums as none of my posts are ever referenced. I would think tha...

Re: Take me away to that special place - Picture Thread

Oh these are just fantastic. One of my favourite things in life is to sit on my kayak and watch the birds fly just above the surface of the water . Not possible for us just now but just for a moment you took me there . Keep posting and I will try and work out how to use one of these image hosting d...

Re: Some CEA studies I found interesting

Zx10 guy , I honestly think you must be source of some research article . Your CEA journey is a stand alone example . It must have caused you a lot of distress over the years . I actually use your history to calm a few people down over here when CEA is spiking with no evidence of a tumour. Now we a...

Re: Some CEA studies I found interesting

Hi zx10guy, have they tested any other cancer markers besides CEA? No. But he did run a specific test for my liver when things with my CEA got crazy which came back normal. I did ask a while ago about doing a CA 19-9 but he said he feels it's not going to provide any more insight into what is going...

Re: Some CEA studies I found interesting

CEA is an absolutely miserable test. And research should go into something more reliable. As has been stated already, for some it works as intended as it provided an early alert that triggered a scan which found something. But when doctors keep saying they don't treat based on CEA alone, there's som...

Re: Nomogram Predictive Tools--Are they accurate?

I've used them in the past when I was first diagnosed. It really depends. Each nomogram's results are based on the collection/pool of data fed into it. So you would need to examine how large of a sampling the tool has access to and if the data has been updated recently. Two others that are out there...
