Re: New Member - Looking for Some Reassurane

Hi there, 1st of all, congratulations on being in a position to worry only about the after effects of surgery. Interesting that you were on Humira for Rheumatoid Arthritis. I had taken Humira for Psoriasis. After about 1 year I moved to Ustekinaumab (known as Stelara) which was doing a good job of k...

Re: I was so lucky to find this forum a decade ago

Hey, good to see your post and I am glad that an oldie is on posting like this. I too remember you from the past and am happy to see you are doing well. I think we all agree that Eric was a legend and his motto helped me too, and I am sure many others. Loosing him was a big loss to the entire CC Com...

Re: Neuropathy from FOLFOX?

It's been about 10 years since I had FOLFOX in what goes for our Winter in Sydney but I was like hot black bean teas as I couldn't do cold drinks and I kind of went off coffee (decaf if you count that as coffee). The neuropathy gradually got worse until about rounds 9 & 10 were so bad I couldn't...

10 years & 3 days since diagnosis

Hi All Just thought I would share with you the belated 10th anniversary of my diagnosis with stage IV rectal cancer. Just over 10 years ago my wife & I had just had our 11th wedding anniversary, and bought our "dream home" when after Mrs Kiwi's loving reminders (I would never say naggi...

Re: New here

Hi, Sorry you had to join this club, kinda sucks to join and once you join it you tend to want to unjoin as soon as possible. I am not familiar with the regime you are taking as I had FOLFOX via a port I had installed in my chest. However the oxaliplatin is effects are cumulative and get harder as y...

Re: 10 years and counting ...

Hi OSM Amazing to hear that and I still sometimes lurk around here, but I thought after seeing this that I had to actually log in and comment. My sincere congratulations on this result and I wanted to thank you for the cool, calm, logical and reassuring presence you have always been on this board. S...

Re: Question for the brains trust!

Rob My oncologist sounds similar to yours. I was in a small cohort where my lung resection meant that I had no visible disease and he said the same as yours, there was no scientific evidence to support chemo, but there wasn't any evidence to rule it out so the decision was mine. OK, he kind of tactf...

Re: Who are the longest stage 4 survivor's on here?

I'm nowhere near the longest stage 4 but upon reading this I realized that I am now up to 9.50 years. My goal when I was diagnosed was to beat the estimate of 2 years so I am pretty happy to still be here and well at the moment.
Makes me sad to see all those that are no longer with us.

Re: juliej?

I only ever contacted Julie via the PM's and talked to her a few times as I felt that her and I had some similarities, especially in relation to lung involvement (and running). She was still pretty active on this site but mentioned a few things that suggested she was transitioning from being a cance...

Re: Any young, long term survivors? Need hope

Diagnosed Stave IV in 2012 when I was 49.
NED since 2013 and am currently 48.

Like Horizon, spent a long time being consumed by fear of cancer, but now have other fears (daily ones like everyone else) so don't log on very often.
There are more of us around than you would suspect.

Re: kick'n ass cancer's ass

Hi Mike
Glad you are still coming along and continuing to kick cancer's arse (I spell that differently to you).
I do remember you from when I was a lot more active to and it is good to occasionally see old timers around too mate.
