Re: Article linking diet (sugar) and high recurrence rates..

Well said Pog451. I think that enjoying the simple things in life such as a sweet treet, a bunch of fresh tulips, a beautiful baby showing off their first tooth, is so much more benificial than obsessing over an inaccurate internet report. Truly we don't know what tomorrow will bring, it could be a ...

Re: Post op. Confirmed diagnosis.

Had an exciting allergic reaction to first chemo, passed out and pitched a seizure. My special little way of saying I don't think I like this. Lol. My poor team sure scuried that day. So I am allergic to the oxiliplaten, but on top of that my pet scan shows a metased lymph node on the main artery in...

Re: Article linking diet (sugar) and high recurrence rates..

I talked to my nutritionist about this the other day. I too reach for the sweets as it is one of the few things I can taste. She told me there was one study that showed sugar cancer growth conection and that it wasn't human studies. Since then all the miracle cure bandwagons started running with it....

Re: Questions about PET scan

They found one lymph node with my pet scan. It changed the protocol so they could agressively attack that node and the origional site as well. In canada at least I think this is pretty normal proceedure to fight on both fronts as metas is considered far more serious than just the origional cancer si...

Re: The therapeutic value of music

The night I heard my complete diagnosis in the hospital, the only thing that kept me from flying to peices was listening to Andrea Bottchelli's three albums on repeat all night. It kept the anxiety under control and tranported me away from the harsh truth. Another amazing peice of music is Lenard Co...

Re: Bad idea

If you are a book reader Janet Evanivich will have you belly laughing in the wee hours of the morning. Very silly fun, not overly long books. Lots of them and the smile stays on your face for a while. One For The Money is the first in the series.

Re: Cancer & Damaged Relationships

My husband and I have just begun our journey. I have stage 3c+ cc. We laugh so much, he has become the most supportive caregiver. He is determined to be strong, his words. He says he will deal with the rest later. We both try to be so strong, we dont want to scare each other by showing too much fear...

Re: Telling your kids...

The hardest thing we have ever done is tell our children I have cancer. The kids, 31, 29, 28, and 20 were all stunned and devestated at the same time. But the one thing they said after it sunk in was they were glad we let them know asap. They are still not sure how to deal with it on an emotional le...

Re: Post op. Confirmed diagnosis.

Thanks so much for the good words. We are holding fairly strong. It is very sureal, we wonder should we be freaking out more? Screaming, crying, racing around in a panic. But no, I guess that doesn't really fit us. We have had our tears and now we are calmly waiting for the next battle. I am so bles...

Re: Stuart Scott

I couldn't agree more. The majority of people I tell are instantly sympathetic and quite shattered that I am battling cancer but rarely do they ask any questions about the cancer its self. Just how are you and will I be ok. My greatest wish would be that they rush out and get whatever scan they have...

Post op. Confirmed diagnosis.

Ok so here it is 11 day post op. All the facts are in. I am stage 3c colon cancer. We went in and removed the affected bowel (cecum), dug the spot out on the liver( benign), and pulled the ovaries, also clean. They took 30 lymph nodes out and 10 show cancer cells. There are also cancer cells outside...
