Re: Clinical Trial - PROGRESS REPORT

Thank you for posting your report. This is a very interesting trial and it will be good to see if it makes a real difference.

Thank you Maia. You're right about this place. The real experts are the patients and their carers.

Re: Starting chemo next week - please pray

Try not to worry. I am a few weeks ahead of you and on my 3rd cycle of Xelox. Apart from one modest complication, it is bearable, although exhausting. From the information you've posted, it sounds like you have it all to play for and the fact that you have had one complication does not mean you will...

Re: I Propose a Toast...

Great Toast Julie.

Happy 2013 to all from France where we saw the new year in 2 hours ago. Not as busy as Times Square but the locals put on a great show.

Best wishes.

Re: Mri after effects

I think it was Mark Twain who said "I have worried about many things in my life, most of which never happened." I doubt if the pain is anything to do with the MRI unless you were holding yourself stiff for a really long time. What you're describing doesn't sound alarming, though. For what ...

Re: 52 and just starting "the journey"

Hi Eric Yes I am having infusions in arms, but the veins now seem to be getting fragile, which is sad because I always thought I had great veins! Did think about getting a port after the drip tissued, although the pain wasn't as bad as I expected. I have just arrived in France for my annual new year...

Re: chemo-brain cognition testing?

I have no doubt that my brain function has changed since 6 weeks of chemo, although "the blues" may also be having an effect. I don't, however intend to succumb without opposing the trend. My recommended read is for this one is "Spark!: How exercise will improve the performance of you...

Re: I am so tired

Hi Christie I am on the other side of what you are going through and my partner also found the whole thing and me really difficult to deal with. I have to admit that I wasn't much help when I got deep into my own misery, but I did sit down with her after about 6 weeks and talked about some of the el...

Re: New member -- preparing what should I ask

Welcome from me also Stephanie, although I too am a new member. Take a friend/spouse and a notebook with your queries written down and jot down answers as they come. A good doctor won't be upset or intimidated by this. Ask about pre-op treatment such as chemo, although you probably will not be offer...

Re: MRI advice--my first coming up

Hi willtowin Please don't have any worries about the metalwork. If it's been there since you were a teenager, then the chances of it being an issue are infinitesmally small - even if they were scanning your head, which it doesn't sound as if they will be. I have ordered hundreds of spinal MRI scans ...

Re: 52 and just starting "the journey"

Thank you for the kind welcomes and greetings from Stockport UK. I had my third Oxaliplatin infusion yesterday and a slightly freaky experience. The infusion tissued after half an hour and started causing serious discomfort. Fortunately a swat team from plastic surgery arived within 20 minutes and w...

52 and just starting "the journey"

This forum has helped me a lot in the last few days so I thought I would introduce myself and thank the many people who have shared their experiences. It really helps to put things in perspective. In September I was counting my blessings and (perhaps a bit smugly) decided that all my ducks were line...
