Wishing all a good and peaceful new year

I haven't posted on this board in a long time but, like so many others, I check in and keep tabs on old and new. I'm now 3 1/2 years post surgery, chemo, and radiation and for me, my life has returned to a post-cancer 'normal'. At least in many ways. But in many other ways, my life has been enriched...

Re: Sleepless in.....

Thanks for your responses.. I actually have brought it up to all of my Dr.s....and had a number of suggestions -- and prescriptions -- from them. Problem is the drugs we tried (ranging from melatonin, Ambien to anti depressants and other options) just didn't work. Some of them "drugged me up&qu...

Sleepless in.....

Hey Folks, I don't post much anymore (but lurk and keep tabs on all the folks here). I'm just curious....I'll be approaching my 3 year Anniversary in April and STILL have terrible times with sleeping. I can fall asleep (easily) but just can't stay asleep. I end up waking up between 12 and 2 many nig...

Re: Got more bad news...I'm scared.

Sheesh, Dani, I have nothing to offer on the "knowledge" front, but see that others have. Thank goodness for this board!! All I can say is that Whatever your path , I (and clearly everyone here) am here for you. Sending positive thoughts and prayers (and a number of swinging chickens <g>).

Re: My latest scan results. Hmmm.

I admire your composure and am glad that appointments fell into place as they did. I have no useful info. to share but did want to send a word of support. Thank goodness the info. will be forthcoming by the end of the week! We ALL know what the waiting game is like. Good luck and please do let us kn...

Re: Status Update

Something good can happen, Sheila. Don't know if it really helps to say it, but good things-small and large- happen every moment of every day. I can hear the fear and tiredness in your words and all I can say is you have a lot of people who care. Hang tough. Vent away. And know we're here for you. S...

Re: Why is colorectal cancer such an embarrassing word?

I can't say that I've found it to be an embarrassing word in my case. Everyone sucks in a collective gasp at the word "cancer", and in many cases that's the first word that registers. When people ask me what kind of cancer, I find they're ready for whatever I tell them. But also, I'm over ...

Hey Fletch, So many posts here bring tears to the eyes (and heart)', both joyful and with great sorrow. As I sit here enjoying an unexpectedly sunny and warm Maine day, I find my eyes and heart bending again.......in great joy and appreciation for where you are at this moment in time. Because truly,...

Re: beans and post-treatment diet. advice please

I, too,am really careful with beans (very high fiber content) and we are careful that when we DO have them, that we don't also have too many greens, as the combination can be almost lethal for me. I don't know if others have the number of sensitive issues that I do (my Oncs are always checking with ...
