Re: Rising CEA, clear scans for 6 months

I had the same situation. CEA steadily arising for five months with clean scans. Finally, at 6 months the CT still read clear but the PET showed peritoneal mets. I hope this is not your situation. But I would definitely do the PET if for nothing more than peace of mind.

Re: Your list. Help needed.

Complaining about getting old or a "big birthday" coming up that you are not looking forward to. Telling a 35 year old with cancer that you are dreading turning 40, 50, or 60 feels like a slap in the face to me. I want 40 sooooooo badly. My response to these remarks is always "well, i...

Re: Chemo for peritoneal mets?

Thanks everyone for the responses. I have already had a posterior pelvic exenteration which is a massive surgery so I think there are concerns about how well I would do on HIPEC. My doctors at MDA also seem skeptical that it would be worth it on a cost/benefit analysis. But I will press them on that...

Chemo for peritoneal mets?

Has anyone here had chemo control peritoneal mets for any duration of time? Unfortunately, I have tiny peritoneal mets and surgery does not appear to be an option. I am wondering if chemo can buy me some time or not?
Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences/history.

Re: When to tell children your dying?

I hate that we even have to have this conversation, but I agree that it is helpful. Julie YW, I feel like you are a bit farther along than I am in being able to process this aspect of our common situation. I wish I could get to the point where you are because, intellectually, I feel like you are cor...

Re: Colonoscopy with Loop Illeostomy?

Just wanted to update this thread in case this situation ever arises in the future. The answer is that there is no way to prep. I did fleet enemas and still had solid stool in the transverse colon.

Colonoscopy with Loop Illeostomy?

Hi all, Has anyone had a colonoscopy performed with a loop illeostomy? If so, what prep did you do? This is my problem--I was given a loop illeostomy with the hopes that it could be reversed. However, due to scar tissue, radiation damage etc., I am just not a candidate for reversal. I was due for my...

Question: immunotherapy for MSS

Hi all, I have what is probably a stupid question but I am trying hard to understand/work through this. Are there any promising immunotherapy trials for MSS (Micro satellite stable?) tumors?. I feel like I have been reading promising results for MSI tumors, but nothing really for MSS. Is that at all...

Re: Avastin Question

Thanks Grousman. My BP has been normal. I don't have the print out from labs yet- just saw that it said "protein 300". They are having me collect my urine for 24 hours to do another test. My concern is that I had a kidney autotransplant in January (they moved my right kidney to the left si...
