Re: He May Not Make It Through The Night ...

Oh Dear DeAnn -- I have not checked the board in a while and just did and saw this! I don't know what to say, except am wishing you both some form of peace and relief for Scott. He is so lucky to have you and the kids and vice versa. We're here for you.

Re: I went to Dana Farber.... Here's the plan.

Hi Jason, I'm glad you were able to get your second opinion and that Dana Farber agreed with the surgical plan originally recommended to you. I hope I am not oversteppting, but this issue is near and dear to my heart and I wanted to weigh in with another vote to not take no for an answer yet if you ...

Re: So, I guess my fear is now our reality.

Dear DeAnn -- I just want you to know you and Scott are constantly in my thoughts and I am really hoping your home (compassionate!) onc has the proper insight and advice on what to do next. A cure might be too much to hope for, but more comfort for Scott seems like a reasonable request!

Re: I am soooo mad and worried ....

DeAnn -- I think this is outrageous and total BULLSHIT! I hope that bad-ish word is allowed on this forum but what else can you call this!? You have been saying for MONTHS this was due to a leak and you were getting blown off when you were RIGHT-- totally unacceptable. You and Scott are fighting so ...

Re: Great Consultation With Dr. D'Angelica

Julie and Pete -- This sounds like a very promising visit indeed! Dr. K gave my Dad FUDR and FOLFIRI (pre and post-resection but luckily sounds like you guys go straight to resection !).

Re: Flu shots?

Another good point Voxx66!!! There isn't an official rec yet from the ACIP (the independent recommendation making body for all vaccines) for high dose vaccines for older adults, but in my personal opinion the evidence base is building and I wouldn't be shocked if they do make that preferential rec i...

Re: Flu shots?

Hi Jeanette, Makes total sense that the onc wants to take advantage of the QIV's extra protection against flu B for patients with lung mets and others who may be especially prone to complications from flu (the respiratory effects he's hoping to help you avoid can come from any form of seasonal influ...

Re: Flu shots?

Me too Voxx66! I'm thrilled that this discussion is happening though on this board showing that everybody is at least thinking about protecting themselves. Though no cause for major alarm if oncs and other docs don't have vax supply in just yet, flu season hasn't "kicked off" just yet. But...

Re: Flu shots?

Hi Everybody, I have been watching this post (and recall one similar to it from last flu season) carefully. The issue of influenza and flu vaccines coupled with cancer and its treatment is very personal to me. My day job is in public health, specifically in influenza. So I work on flu all day everyd...

Thank you all for your very encouraging words. DeAnn you and Scott have been so inspiring and helpful ! And Julie you've been such a wonderful cheerleader and advisor as well. Liver Resection! (Brought to you by Dr. K/MSK)

Hi All, I just wanted to share with you yet another good news story made possible by Dr. Kemeny as well as the wonderful surgery team at MSKCC. My Dad who was diagnosed with multiple scattered inoperable liver mets in Dec. (following a misdiagnosis of "only" stage II CRC several months pri...
