Re: Aspirin for Colorectal Cancer / PIK3CA mutation

Yes, it doesn't seem to work for everyone and also it seems to be time dependent as well. Other COX 2 inhibitors may provide a more sound benefit, like Celebrex for instance. Here's a link to a collection of studies that a person is keeping that is very good and some of the results of aspirin seem i...

Re: 10 months in, what I would have done differently

Actually if you had followed the original posting links to blogs (written by actual oncologists BTW) you would have seen the info in question. Meanwhile the original author of the post you are responding to has said nothing. But you know what???? I don't care anymore .. do guys do what you want to d...

Re: 10 months in, what I would have done differently

Again Pog451, I didn't want this posting to devolve into a debate on the current state of cancer chemo care .. I was just posting my thoughts about what, since I've been in this position, I would have done more carefully, etc. If you want to have a debate please start a debate thread and we'll kick ...

Re: 10 months in, what I would have done differently

. And there are valid studies on every one of these adjuncts I've just mentioned. And there are more out there .. I suppose this is where the issue arises. The doctors do not agree and I have yet to be convinced. And you've spent exactly how much time looking into it? What have you found exactly th...

Re: Diagnosed Today as Stage 4 w/liver mets

I would say that the one possible benefit from getting a biopsy first is that you can then get it tested to see what chemo treatment is most effective against your strain of cancer. I would consider that no small thing but you need at least a sample about the size of a sugar cube, 2 grams.

Re: 10 months in, what I would have done differently

Thanks for the replies everyone (even the one with clear disdain) and I just wanted to clarify what I said before about chemo only adding months, as well as expand the conversation on chemo in general. There aren't any tests out there that define what various chemo treatments add in survival time vs...

Re: 10 months in, what I would have done differently

So this post got posted twice and let me use this copy to say - I hope my critique doesnt come across as too agressive or negative, it wasnt meant to be. I will take your post in the spirit in which it was intended but even you must admit that there is no established cure for cancers .. after almos...

Re: NED LESS THAN A YEAR AFTER DIAGNOSIS

Thanks for the post. So I assume that since you had HIPEC that you had mesentary cancer? If so was it from colon cancer? HIPEC is pretty experimental so I'm curious.

Thanks

10 months in, what I would have done differently

Hi all I have been managing my father's colon cancer since January 2012. He has stage 4 colon cancer that has spread to the mesentary sack but no organs. I've spent a lot of effort understanding cancer and the treatment process and in general things are progressing better than anyone had predicted a...

Re: "KRAS Mut=No Cetuximab? Not Necessarily"

I had made the same arguments on this study to my dad's oncologist. Dad's a KRAS 13D BTW. In the end we did not do it .. yet .. he's responding well to 5_FU and Avastin (a drug which I hate and would like to see ended). We're also doing lots of supplemental treatment as well. It's hard to know just ...

Re: Cancer free!

Breezy why did you suggest taking metformin, I remember taking that drug when I was pre diabetic, maybe I got the wrong drug but I too am on xeloda and was wondering how that works. Thank you for yr time Well there are cancer stem cells .. essentially genetic blueprints of your own cancer makeup an...

Re: Cancer free!

Congrats but it's not over yet. Get yourself a metformin prescription to minimize the chance of metasizing. Never believe it's over .. be vigilant! If you have stomach issues use cemitdine, it's a cancer fighter too. And for pain, if you can try to use Celebrex unless you have heart problems .. it's...

Re: Vitamin supplements during chemotherapy

I've been involved with my dad's cancer treatment since January. He has stage 4 colon cancer in the mesentary (no organs though), 78 yrs old. We've been using the following which are indicated to have direct anti cancer effects .. curcumin vitamin D3 & k mix (he was quite low but we've finally b...
