Re: Scan Buddies for early June ?

My mom is scanning as I write this. My dad scanned (MRI for brain tumor) last week. He was terminal at diagnosis, and his week-long inpatient palliative chemo infusions aren't palliating particularly well. Between the two of my parents' genes, I hope I got my mom's, my dad's ordeal has been that bad...

Re: Poke Me With A Fork...

Guinevere, you took time from your own struggle to offer me kind words when I posted on here that my father had a brain tumor, and probably not much time left. My dad, like you, has a granddaughter (my daughter)--six months yesterday. I am so grateful that both you and my dad were able to meet your ...

Sessile polyp at 1st colonoscopy post treatment?

Hi all. My mom had her first colonoscopy after last year's treatment for Stage IIIB rectal cancer, and the GI doctor found and removed a sessile polyp and has sent it to pathology. Also the patient record says "patient has been advised of risk to family." Strangely even after my mom's batt...

Mom just had her first post-treatment colonoscopy. One sessile polyp removed. Now for the CT scan in a couple of weeks. *gulp*

Re: O/T--An update: Mom's cancer--and now dad's.

Thanks Sugar. Hugs and best wishes for your own health. I have looked into hospice, but we would have to stop all treatment and we (especially my mom) aren't quite ready to do that yet. It's very important to her that we feel we did everything we could to get my dad back some quality of life, at lea...

Re: O/T--An update: Mom's cancer--and now dad's.

Thanks, all. How sweet of you all to take the time out from your own battles to send kind thoughts to me, and mine. Choijk, yes it is the same; I am 35 and married only 15 months ago. And I feel the same as you do when I look around and see all my friends living normal lives. The nurses seeing my da...

Re: O/T For my pals following my husband's lymphoma

We are right here with you, Bev. My mom is just barely done with her rectal cancer treatment, and my dad now has lymphoma, but it is primary brain lymphoma. It came out of nowhere, it came on in weeks, and because it's a brain tumor it took his cognitive and physical abilities. My mom has been with ...

O/T--An update: Mom's cancer--and now dad's.

Hello all. Some of you may remember my threads from my mom's Stage IIIB rectal cancer last year. I was, at the time pregnant. I don't want to post too much since what I am posting is off-topic, but a few of you have asked how my mom and I are doing, so I wanted to make one post just to update. My mo...

Re: Sad News- Debzak

What a shock. I knew from her posts that things were serious, but I did not realize that the end was so near. I remember she was agonizing over whether or not to move her daughter's bat mitzvah earlier. I hope her daughters know how much she loved them, and how hard she tried to be there longer for ...

Re: Radiation experiences?

Hi there--my mom also had a tumor just south of the colon/rectum border. She did 28 radiation treatments and had to stop the Xeloda in the final week as the diarrhea was too bad. She too used Aquaphor, sitz baths, and ProctoFoam. Another thing that was helpful was finding some device that let her ea...

Re: STUCK on STAGING

THANKS lovemymom... and if you're right, that the radiologist bases node positive on size, then why does mine say "2 to 3 small nodes seen" if they're small then how do you know they are positive? This paper (several years old) seems to suggest that on an MR scan if the lymph nodes have a...

Re: STUCK on STAGING

as far as old stats... at the bottom of the page it says, "Last Medical Review: 08/15/2013 Last Revised: 08/15/2013" (from American Cancer Society) I think you are looking at the SEER stats. It's been a long time since I saw those, but if I remember, they include a pretty high percentage ...

Just a note: T3N1 is Stage IIIB, not IIIA.
