Re: Radiation this week at MSK

I had 28 rounds of radiation and 5 chemos as the initial treatment for esophageal cancer and it really knocked the tumor out. But, it has since then it has metastisfied to liver and hip bone. Bummer! But the radiation had few side effect. They told me I might have a very sore throat as the treatment...

Re: Last two chemos or covid booster?

DH and I got the covid booster yesterday. I am currently getting chemo (paclitaxel) twice a month. No one questioned our decision to do this or said it would not help. In early November, my 3 brothers, one sister and 2 in-laws all came down with covid. One brother spent 17 days in ICU and thought he...

Re: My first colostomy poo-splosion

This may be TMI, but I just wanted to say sorry this happened, but it may not be the last. I had my first poo-splosion a few weeks after getting a colostomy. I was using the system the hospital sent me home with (not that one, I was changing every 3 or 4 days), anyway it happened at home in the bedr...

Re: Is Liver Biopsy absolutely necessary?

For what it's worth, I'm 75 and had a liver needle biopsy last March. I was quite concerned about doing it, but it turned out not to be a big ordeal. I was awake and aware for it. They used a local anesthetic on the skin and I really didn't feel it. After a few hours(to watch for bleeding) I was abl...

Re: Has Anyone Any Experience With The Joe Tippens Protocol?

I have used just the fenben when not doing chemo. For about 9 weeks. Can't say it did anything for me. Just started on Keytruda and
If that fails, I'll try it again. If you do Facebook, there is a large group of users on https://www.facebook.com/groups/429159131252194/ you could join.

Re: Need advice on colostomy

I also agree with Lee, get the anus sewn up. My surgeons did mine at the time of colectomy, and didn't tell me about it. Don't know if I would have agreed to it had I known, but after all the issues people have with leakage and smell, this is the way to go. Recovery was long and rather painful. You'...

Re: Girlfriend wants to come to appointments

Gina's right, I really doubt she'd be allowed in on appt. My husband can't even come into the building when I go for chemo. And it is getting pretty hot here in Texas. Maybe you could record the appt, for her to hear later. And maybe she would have input you could use for future appts.

Re: Numb and numberer

https://cbcn.ca/en/blog/our-stories/side-effects-neuropathy My daughter found this link with some OTC supplements that may help with neuropathy. I've done 4 rounds of Folfox and have the hand problem only instead of numb when I touch cold things it's like an electric shock. It may progress to numb a...

Re: Update (treatments & CEA)

Hi, as you can see Monimoms cea numbers compared to yours, cea is not a good marker for you. Those are mostly normal readings. My ceas are pretty small too, considering I had colorectal cancer in 2004 and am now fighting esophageal cancer stage 111. In fact, I sit here with a 5Fu pump on now, and ha...

Re: Parastomal hernia

I also developed a hernia post op. Probably due to having a 7 mo grandaughter who needed carrying around.lol. Anyway, my surgeon looked at it and didn't recommend repair. The only problem is that with my last colonoscopy, it impeded the camera and doc was only able to scope the first 5 inches or so....

Re: Barbie Butt question?

I had this surgery in 2004, so it's been a while, but I remember most of the experience. I awoke with a permanent ostomy and barbie butt. There were 2 vac drains in in the butt cheeks which I had for about 4 days. They were low enough to not interfere with sitting. I won't lie, it was pretty painful...

Re: What is radiation/chemo treatment actually like?

I recently finished 28 rounds of radiation and 5 chemo infusions. 15 years after dealing with colorectal cancer I had the luck? to develop esophageal cancer. So the chemo might not be what is used for colon c and the radiation is in a different area, but the experience would be about the same. It wa...

Re: My hair is falling out.

I just noticed this thread. Back in May it was not an issue for me. I never had chemo for the colorectal cancer, just surgery. Then, in June of this year, I had very bad news(didn't know how bad it was at first). During an endoscopy/colonoscopy a mass was found in my esophagus and it was stage IV. S...
