Re: My new met shocked the doc

Definitively push your onc to get you on denosumab shots. Multiple trials (see below) have shown it is much more effective than Zometa at preventing bone complications. http://news.cancerconnect.com/denosumab-more-effective-than-zometa-at-delaying-bone-complications/ http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubm...

Re: My new met shocked the doc

Bradyr, a past member who is no longer with us had multiple bone mets on his legs. Bone mets can usually be treated very effectively with radiotherapy. Here is a post where bradyr talked about his bone mets: http://coloncancersupport.colonclub.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=8047&p=54470#p54470 If y...

Re: TAS-102

From the trial results, it looks like TAS-102 only offers marginal survival benefit very similar to that of regorafenib. Re: Camomile tea ?

The chemical compound that may have some anticancer properties in camomile tea, as well as in parsley and celery, is apigenin . http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apigenin There are a couple of abstracts on NIH describing it: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23485682 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1...

Re: Anti-CD47 antibody research update

The trial is now listed on clinicaltrials.gov: http://clinicaltrials.gov/show/NCT02216409 Code name for the drug is Hu5F9-G4. Even though the trial is listed as recruiting, according to Stanford, the first group of participants have already been identified from current Stanford patients and they are...

Re: BBI608 - Cancer Stem Cell Inhibitor

I just read an article in regard to BBI608 that I thought I should post here: http://www.fiercebiotech.com/story/phiii-flop-top-boston-cancer-stem-cell-program-batters-dainippon-sumitomo/2014-05-27 To summarize, phase 3 trial using BBI608 for CRC was stopped early due to a lack efficacy. This become...

Re: Alternative and Integrative Treatment Discussion

Dear All, I just verified current price of pien tze Huang. One box is 10tabs for HKD6,990. I only buy from Hong Kong. Father That sounds about right. Re: Difficulty getting in Ipilimumab/ Nivolumab trials?

FYI this trial is designed with MSI+ patients in mind as BMS thinks Ipilimumab will have the most effect on those patients. If your husband is MSI+ he should have absolutely no problem getting into the trial. This trial also has an extremely small portion to test Nivolumab on patients who are not MS...

Epigenetic therapy - an emergent cancer treatment approach

Recently Maia was kind enough to share with me a lot of very interesting information about epigenetics. This is an exciting area in cancer research and clinical trials using this approach are starting to appear for treatment of solid tumors as can be seen in this trial ( http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct...

BBI608 - Cancer Stem Cell Inhibitor

Some very interesting abstracts were presented during ASCO this year about BBI608. There are currently 2 clinical trials (a phase 2 and a phase 3 trial) using this drug for colorectal cancer. Since stem cells are naturally non-rapidly dividing and have the ability for DNA repair, they are resistant ...
