Re: Who's still fatigues

I am a year out from resection and 6 months post flofox. I can't do squat! I run the vaccum on a small area rug, I need a nap. I attempt to do yard work, I am whacked for days. I tried watching my grands before school...three hour nap after I dropped them off! Onc said its chemo will get better, pri...

Re: Lyrica vs. Cymbalta vs. Neurontin

I have been on Neurotin(gabapentin) for 10 months. When I started it, I was still in treatment, so the side effects of dizziness and sleepy, kinda blended in with chemo crap. When treatment stopped in April I was at 1600 mg a day. I am tired, but nothing that prohibits me from daily things. It works ...

Though I do not know you or Jake, before reading this post, I truly appreciate you sharing this wonderful story. It surely sounds like all the problems were being directed from up above! Cherish the memory!

Re: Day 12: late cycle response to FOLFOX

OH lordy were you watching me? Sure sounds like it. First the neighbor thing, steriods. I did the same thing. Crying jag, mine hit between friday evening of treatment and sunday morning of disconnect. Steriods again. I would crash sunday afternoon and barely remember Monday. Family had to wake me up...

Re: Gut Wrenching pain - Update

Lori, I am new to you and your journey, so I am not familiar with your problem at the clinic. But if you felt strong enough to write a letter, then the letter needs to be mailed up the food chain so the problems can be remedied. I had trouble with a nurse at my clinic, during treatment. Twice she mi...

Re: After chemo....

I finished my last treatment on April 20, and was on a cruise ship May 1st. I developed allergies to certain foods, after the fact. And as far as how long the effects of Chemo will have on our bodies....well no one has been able to give me a straight answer. What I have been told, some of this is yo...

Re: Working While on Folfox

I saw mention of using FMLA. I first went out on FMLA to recoup from resection, but when my Oncologist learned that I was a special ed teacher, she did not want me being around kids, during the winter months. My school could not find me a job, that I could do either. So when my FMLA ran out, I retir...

Re: What your guilty pleasure?

My splurges: 1. I had to get a new bed, something that didn't remind me of the months I spent curled up in my "nest". nothing like a good bed, without the gully down the center, you can lay anywhere and not roll. 2. I got a companion puppy, that I will be training to be a therapy dog! Plus...

Re: Starting FOLFOX Today

the side effects, cold sensitivity should diminish about 72 hours after treatment has stopped. I could set a clock on that 72 hours for eating or drinking cold. The hands and feet will/should ease up between treatments. Mine just kept esclating, throughout, and didn't plateau until 5 weeks after tre...

Re: Highschool Student Working on A Project about Colon Canc

I applaud your decision to write about a topic that is still considered "rude" to discuss in public. My suggestions are to research statistics on colon cancer from an approved website- Colon Cancer Alliance and the American Cancer Society. I would avoid quoting survivor statistics, well be...

Re: Anybody with any good news ??

I am just 6 months out of treatment. Had to retire from a job that I loved, during treatment, becuz Onc didn't want me around non family kids, during the winter/flu months and chemo. I applied for SS when i was first diagnosed, and was approved for SSI in less than a year. (now to survive the 5 mont...

Please contact an attorney that specializes in medical stuff. Insurance companies can no longer deny coverage to people, who have had NO LAPSE IN COVERAGE. I retired on disability during this journey and the policy that retiree's had was different that what active teachers have. They tried the same ...

Re: Year or more survivers- do you gain the weight back?

I weighed 168 last year when I started this journey, starting with gall bladder removal in March 2011, dx Oct. 2011. I got down to 135 at the lowest. I flucuate between 140 and 147 now. I eat pretty healthy, no junk food, no red meats. Ice cream once in a while. But it just won't come on and stay. A...

Re: I know everyone is watching the election but I have a qu

Hate to publically anounce that I was a pot head during treatment, but I was. The steriods would amp me up for the 48 hours on the pump, then more steriods and anti barf meds....a couple of bowl hits and I was out like a light for hours!
