Re: When it's time, you know...

Hi Gaelen. I haven't been on here for a long time, but popped on today and saw your post. You were one of the people on here I most admired for dealing with this disease in a reasoned, real and rational way. Thank you for being that voice and for the few chats we had a few years back. I am so sorry ...

Re: Does anyone know any brands of nitrite/nitrate free meats..

Slightly off-topic....but Wegman's doesn't have good comparisons elsewhere. That store is awesome! I grew up in New England, went to school in Philly and now live in Cleveland. I only learned about Wegmans when my brother went to Syracuse University and a friend moved to Rochester. I now make a poin...

Re: Scared about Port Removal with only Local

Mine was put in with just local. They give you something to relax a little and then numb the area. Felt pressure and a weird chest flutter when the tube got close to the heart but no pain. I just assumed the removal would be the same - and easier.

Re: How do you broach Cancer topic with new friends/coworkers?

Hi. I haven't had that problem since I have been in the same workplace and co-workers saw me with my 5FU pump during chemo. I am also lucky enough to work at a newspaper where people are used to asking questions and where several people have been very up front about their cancer experiences, includi...

Re: Has Cancer Made You Lose Your Faith?

Well, this isn't a nation of god as much as many others are. Religious leaders are not directly governing us. Why are atheists/agnostics not as up front and noticeable? Because it's a hard belief system to proclaim. We have nothing tangible to believe in. We simply don't believe. So to assert our be...

Re: Has Cancer Made You Lose Your Faith?

A few thoughts... First, if one of my earlier posts was a little confrontational, I'm sorry. At the same time, debating things out is often the only way to really get to the bottom of it. A debate is not necessarily an angry thing: it's just the process. Let the ideas fight and beat each other to a ...

Re: Has Cancer Made You Lose Your Faith?

You know, I think I misspoke--I do have faith: ...in my family, my friends, my husband, my doctors, myself. They are the people that bless me. They--along with science and medicine--are what prop me up, keep me going, make me strong. I think I had turned the corner WRT religion prior to my diagnosi...

Re: Has Cancer Made You Lose Your Faith?

Finding out this diagnosis of cancer has made my faith increase a hundred fold. It has truly brought me closer to Him, knowing that His Word says He would never leave me nor forsake me. OK, so I guess that letting you (or others just like you) die young of a disease doesn't qualify as leaving or fo...

How would you research what heaven is like?

Well, if you're Christian, what does Jesus tell you in the Bible?

Re: Question about second opinions

Your doctor shouldn't care if you seek second, third or fourth opinions. Any doctor that gets insulted or bothered has a self-esteem problem they better get help with. My oncologist is at one of the NCI's Comprehensive Cancer Centers and she told me I should feel free to seek one and had her staff g...

Re: Explanation of God

The passage I copied below is why it is Christian. It starts with "Jesus is God's son." That's pretty Christian and definitely NOT Old Testament. To Jews, Jesus is NOT "God's" son. To Muslims, Jesus was a prophet of lesser stature than Mohammed. Jesus is not really a part of the ...

Re: Explanation of God

This is a colon and rectal cancer board, not a religion one. But I have to note that the muslim calls to prayer over loudspeakers are essentially no different from church bells ringing out from steeples all over the country. It stands out in Dearborn because it's unusual, but it's really the same id...

Re: New kid searching

Hi. There's a lot to learn all at once. Based on what I know, they don't know the stage. Deptch of invasion and seeing if it has spread, which the CT scan would see, are major factors in determining the stage.

You probably can't know until after surgery.

Re: Explanation of God

You're assuming that there is a god, instead of many gods or none at all. This piece is a Christian description of a god, not the atheist or agnostic one, not the Muslim one, not the Jewish one, not the Hindu one, not the Buddhist one....and on and on. This board does not have a religious denominati...
