Thanks for the update Bradyr. I'm definately in your corner. It looks like I'm going to be OK. For some reason, I want to give back because of what I've been through. I have started a training program at the local hospice and palliative care center in the evenings. I want to volunteer at least one n...

Prior to having a colonoscopy Tuesday I had a PET scan, CT scan, chest x-ray, and CEA test. All of the tests indicated I was NED, first time I have used that acronym. I met with my Onc. today and she went over my results. She said when the GI doc "touched" the area of resection it started to bleed. ...

Question about Colonoscopy's

Monday I had my thrid colonoscopy in 17 months. The first one was December 06 (initial diagnosis), the second was June 07 when I was in the hospital for 10 days due to a reaction to Oxal. The last one was this week. In another thread I said the results were good. The reason I had the last colonoscop...

Colonoscopy today

I had a colonoscopy today. This was done because of something that showed up on my PET scan. The PET actually lit up around where my colon was rejoined in January 07. My Onc. wanted to get a biopsy to make sure it was OK. The GI doc said everything looked great. He said a PET would light up if cells...

I feel so bad for you and your dad. Your dad's diagnosis is out of my league but he will probably get some of the same chemo I received. The part I can comment on is his Onc. should be able to tailor his treatment so he can have a good quality of life. If he chooses to work he should be able to but ...

This thread got on a side bar and I had to re read the original post to remember what it was about. I understand what it's like to feel alone but before you know the facts you have to force yourself to get a death grip and get back to reality. Regardless of the final result it always is better to kn...

My cancer was Stage II and there was an issue as to whether or not I should have chemo. The ACS website does not recommend it and only as adjuvant. My Oncologist would not recommend either way but after I made my decision to have chemo, she said she would have done the same thing. I do agree with ot...

Mixed results from CT scan

I had a visit with my Onc. today in regards to my CT scan. She said my scan was clean. She is still concerned about the PET scan and the results. The area that lit up was where my colon was rejoined after the resection. On the PET scan it appeared as a ring. The reason she was optomistic was cancer ...

I can give you my opinion. First I would try to find out the odds of a reoccurance with just surgery. Then I would try to find out by having more chemo how much are your odds increased. I don't think having chemo should completely prevent you from going out on the beach. You can put on a lot of suns...

Great news missjv

I was not aware you had a reoccurance. Sounds like you have a heavy decision ahead of you. I know you will make the right decision for yourself.

Hey Bradyr Hope you have a good time in Vegas. Be sure to check out the fountains at the Bellagio. They are the best in the evening. Also, the Circo is a great place to eat in Vegas, also at the Bellagio. I find that the best part about gambling is the drinks are free. Ha. While going through chemo ...

Good for you. I am hoping I can say the same next week. I am six months our from chemo. My PET scan showed some "abnormal" activity. I'm scheduled for a CT scan Tuesday and a colonoscopy as soon as it can be scheduled.

The local hopsital routinely has a dietician speak at their monthly "I Can Cope" meetings. I went thinking I could learn something about how to change my diet in order to help fight/ prevent a reoccurance of cancer. Basically she told my to eat five fruits and vegetables a day, go conservative on re...
