Re: Skypuppy . . . or anyone who has a comment about chemo break activity

Where is Skypuppy? I see she is showing up as anonymous? Has she been deleted from the forum? I am terribly sad as I have followed her since my own mom got ill...

Re: Prof vogl - germany

I know of no success stories there except his. Yes, and it's a work in progress at that. He's gotten to Ned several times with low CEA, but not cured. And he does incorporate conventional treatments as well, going back and forth from Germany to Australia doctors. And he's spent a loooooot of money....

Re: Husbands Ex has stage 4, what about the kids?

No, it wasn't about her caregiver status. It was about wanting to take the kids more. That's not caregiving, that's child rearing. Moving closer has nothing to do with caregiving either when the mom has not asked for any help. You can't be a caregiver to someone who doesn't want your help. This ent...

Re: Prof vogl - germany

I live in Germany and my mom was treated here and I would never consider the expensive and unreputable clinics like Hallawag. Also the blogger already mentioned provides questionable information and appears not to be able or willing to be concerete and clear. I know of no success stories there excep...

Re: Husbands Ex has stage 4, what about the kids?

I guess I see it a little differently seeing as though I was a caretaker and not a cancer patient. More than likely is that she will not live 5 years. These kids will eventally need their dad. If things haven't been pleasant for a long time, now is the time to reach out so that these kids know they ...

Re: How to live the rest of my life.

Dearest Cherie My late mom passed away and I have some regrets as to what her grandchildren would have needed from her and some points on what the kids really value: +videos of her telling stories and saying goodnight as only she could (she left it too late and was getting too weak to record) + card...

Re: Germany clinic

I live in Germany and those private clinics do indeed have very dodgy reputations. I didn't really consider them for my mom.

Re: Don't know how to comfort my mom

My mom lived far away from my family and it was very difficult with me travlling a long distance monthly and then weekly to be with her as she deteriorated. My mom had never needed anti-depressants despite difficult times including the loss of her other child (my brother). But she changed totally af...

Re: Thinking of Marco, and Katie...

My mom.

Gaelen, whose posts are filled with the best information on the illness that I ever read.

Gwen who wrote me on FB in such kindness.

Carmen.

Marco, a young and beautiful man.
Katie, whose tribute, I watched today.

Yes they are all gone and no amount of sentimentality makes me feel better.

Re: stage 4 with extensive mets - prognosis?

I agree with everything that Val pal said. I tried to be a similar kind of caretaker to my mom, who had a hard time facing the reality of the disease, which I respected. At diagnosis for stage IV the doctor told me she has a "reasonable period". She was 5 years out of her stage II diagnosi...

Re: In the BLINK of an EYE

Vicki, I am going to express a totally different point of view here. I was my mom's gatekeeper and caregiver. I do believe that some important mother and son letting go and healing can take place at this time. You have so much to do, so why not let his mom play her normal motherly role in some of th...

Re: Britanny Maynard

Laurettas, with the greatest of respect, I wish you would shut it.

You were a caregiver and should know when you are out of line. If I was stage 4 right now, I think I would have more choice words for your ridiculous and insensitive comments on this topic.

Re: Britanny Maynard

The posters who judge this poor woman's choices and condemn her right are disgraceful. They claim that it a slippery slope for handicapped folks and then these very same critics say that these options and risks already exist. Makes no sense at all. Lisa, I just read through all of the posts...

Re: Britanny Maynard

So, whose right prevails? The one who wants assisted suicide or the one who will be afraid for his life because of it? And this is only cancer patients. If one adds in the disabled and the elderly, I would think that the ones who would fear assisted suicide would much outweigh those wanting it. Thi...
