Re: Advice for FOLOX infusion day

You will not feel like crap ALL the time. You will find strength you didn't know you had to get through this. Everyone reacts differently and each chemo treatment may have unpredictable results but once you get into it, you can make some assumptions on when the bad days will be.

Re: Advice for FOLOX infusion day

Kiwi, I just started #11 of FOLFOX and I've been fortunate to be able to work from home although can't always get in 40 hours. You can visit my chemo log at cancerforums.net under colon and rectal cancer forum. It is posted in the top 4. May give you some idea of what to expect. I start on Tuesday a...

Re: Banana Skins

I read recently that rubbing banana peels on your teeth for 2 minutes will whiten them. Claims mineral properties of potassium, magnesium and manganese. Maybe those minerals will help your situation.

Re: Thank You, question

I also had some indeterminate spots on my lungs. Could have been scar tissue from pneumonia I had several years ago. Surgeon said may not be anything to worry about.

Re: planning my first trip - what to bring ostomy wise

Like NWgirl, I have a hot tub and never had a problem or needed extra tape. With hot baths and hot tub (and chemo), I usually change appliance 2 days and sometimes 1 day, but I can tell by uncomfortable stinging whether leak has past the barrier ring and seaped under the tape barrier before any majo...

Re: Need some encouragement

I am not one who takes meds unless needed but suggest you ask doc about daily anti-anxiety until you're done with chemo. Helps to regulate the moods. Also I take meds when I need sleep or just to relax if I'm tense.

Re: Best day since my DX?

I have had several good days but on the top of my list is a couple days after my surgery, my brother drove 4 hours one way just to visit me for a few minutes and bring me flowers. He said he went to 3 florists to find just the right bouquet and it was lovely!

There are 3 chemo blogs on cancerforums.net at the top of the colon and rectal cancer forum, including my own. Everybody has different reactions to chemo but you might get an idea of what to expect.

Re: How long do you keep port in

My plan is to get port removed when I get my reversal. My surgeon put it in and I'm glad to be "under" when it comes out. Hope my oncologist agrees. I don't regret having it put in because with a little lidocaine I don't feel the needle going in at all and I hated having blood taken from m...

You are right, OG, but I thought she was taking both xeloda and folfox. Maybe I misunderstood.
