Doing fine, all things considered. Slowly starting to recover from the 2-year odyssey of radiation/chemo/surgeries/blood clot and stent placement and 2 tries at IVC filter removal/piriformis syndrome (from radiation and/or steroid-induced proximal muscle atrophy) and sciatic nerve injury, just start...
Just finished at the onc. CEA not back yet but CT was whistle clean - no thingies to watch, just the boring gallstone and post-surgical/radiation tissue changes that were there last time. This was my 2 year scan so it was kind of a big one. :D :D :D So happy and relieved! Gonna party tonight 8) Pray...
Ranger - I am scanning tomorrow (and chanting my mantra of "don't cry before you're hit" that I picked up on CClub), and clicked on your blog - the "Dance Card" one certainly brought a smile to my face. Good or bad when I get results on Friday I will be thinking "EFF YOU can...
Technically speaking I don't have B12 deficiency, but my levels dropped quite a bit from a level that was done pre-diagnosis (from 600-ish to barely 200-ish). The levels were done post-treatment because I developed a wicked case of sciatic neuropathy that turned out to be due to piriformis syndrome ...
I did rehab with a PT during chemo (proximal weakness from the Decadron steroid) and my PT not only didn't mention any restrictions, she had me doing exercises lifting weight above my head. Not much weight, but still.
I'd ask the doctor who placed the port and see what he/she says.
Hi there, I also had a T3N0 tumor and have had primary Raynaud's since childhood. I totally understand your reluctance about Xeloda and the HFS. I did Xeloda 5 days/week for about a month as part of the pre-surgery chemoradiation (as I was staged T3 pre-surgery based on ultrasound results). I didn't...
Hi Seasnail, Don't give up on the ileostomy situation just yet - it took me a good 2 months to get into a groove. Like your DH I had a very bad experience in the hospital (and the ostomy nurses were totally unhelpful) - thank God for home health care nurses with a clue!!! Also finding my "bombp...
Seconding what Lee said - especially if you've had an ileostomy reversal/J pouch for rectal cancer or if you have any urgency issues related to colon resection, beware the oral contrast! I got a nasty surprise at my first post-treatment scan (4 months out from reversal) -- a little after drinking th...
AmyW, I'm glad you're doing well! I have to tell you, I laughed out loud at the "putting people in a room" comment. What is it about surgeons and oncologists and their fixation about kidnapping cancer survivors and sticking them in rooms?
When I went for my post-treatment scope one of the women on the office staff at my GI's was just horrible. I had to cancel because my driver fell through for that day (I had nobody to take me home), and when I called I got a nasty, condescending lecture about chickening out, and how the prep wasn't ...
I had something similar. Right at the end of radiation, I started feeling like I couldn't quite empty my bladder all the way, and then I'd notice just a little bit of leakage (a few drops or so), usually within about a half hour of a trip to the bathroom. In my case, it went away (I can't remember e...
